Transform Nutrition will be USAID/Mozambique's flagship activity supporting the development of a comprehensive multi-sector approach to nutrition through programming modeled in select Districts and Communities in Nampula.

The goal of this activity is to strengthen the provision of quality evidence-based interventions that affect the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women, adolescents and children less than two years of age. The activity will include elements of hygiene and sanitation.

The Nutrition Manager will represent World Vision Mozambique in implementation of the Project. S/he will coordinator and provide technical support to WV staff and partners involved in the implementation of the Project. The job holder will ensure that WV contributes to the success of the project though quality implementation and delivery of sustainable services.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as the Project’s lead/ provide technical and managerial support to staff for the implementation of World Vision Mozambique components on the Transform Nutrition Project.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with all Transform Nutrition stakeholders. Represent WVM in the Transform Nutrition Project to external entities at related professional and technical meetings and conferences (the donor, government, etc.)
  • Ensure quality reports, documentation and dissemination of project successes, innovations and best practices in accordance with internal and donor requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice to WVM Senior Leadership on proper prepositioning of health and nutrition services delivery for funding opportunities.
  • Ensure the project contributes to WVM’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Provide support in the planning and implementation of assessments, operations research and knowledge management activities.
  • Manage project financial resources with proper accountability and stewardship.
  • Liaise with WV US support office staff as the first point of contact for regular check in calls, reporting, updates.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Clinical Medicine, public health, social sciences or related field. Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience implementing Nutrition and/or Health programs.
  • Experience managing people/ organizing and providing training and capacity building to staffs and partners.
  • Experience in training and mentorship of community health workers on Nutrition programs.
  • Previous work with development agencies, NGOs.
  • Experience working with USAID-funded activities preferred.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills for writing case studies, documenting lessons learnt and reporting on program results.
  • Previous experience in financial resource management.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English required.
  • Professional licenses, as required in the field and by the donor.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in managing inter-agency consortiums is preferred.
  • Experience leading a Nutrition and/or Health USAID-funded grant of $25 million preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and formal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
  • Emotional and spiritual maturity and ability to lead a team of professionals.
  • Work experience within same country or similar context required.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • Be prepared to travel to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required.
