The Communication Associate will primarily be responsible for providing Afya Uzazi Nakuru-Baringo Project with web-based solutions, including the design, maintenance and improvement project web portal. He/She will coordinate with the technical teams, including the Systems Developer, to identify, test and deploy web-based solutions as per the program needs. He/She will work under the guidance of the Senior Technical Officer, Communication to ensure the web portal is fully functional and meets contemporary technical standards. In addition, the Communication Associate will work under the IT Manager to provide to support end-users on issues related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, network connectivity and remote access. The Communication Associate will prepare PCs and other IT equipment for deployment, train users to handle basic support of hardware, applications and operating systems, technical consultation and networking.
- Write the programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages to meet Afya Uzazi’s project requirements
- Develop architecture for web and prepare all databases as per functional requirement and maintain knowledge on all developing web technologies and associate applications.
- Install a CMS-based website
- Assist in initial inputting content into templates for the website and train users
- Provide first-line support to end users for PC, server or mainframe applications, and hardware through troubleshooting.
- Prepare PCs and other IT equipment for deployment and train users.
- Assists in supporting and training users on online communication services and client hardware and software operating environments.
- Perform software installations on computers and configure applications as specified.
- Respond to help desk hotline and maintain accurate information within the IS tracking system.

MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:
- Experience with managing CMS websites, including experience with both commercial and Open Source systems
- Advanced proficiency with HTML
- Experience in web development programming languages (PHP, perl, ASP, Python, JSP etc.)
- Knowledge of W3C standards such as XHTML, accessibility standards, content sharing standards such as RSS/RDF and Open Archives Initiative
- Knowledge of Internet protocols, databases & programming
- Experience with web servers
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
- Other certifications such as ITIL, MCSE, A+, N+
- Experience providing end-user phone support for current PC desktop and application software OR installing, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing personal computers in a network environment.
