The Director of Fund Development will be responsible for supporting the mission and vision of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County. The Director of Fund Development is responsible for soliciting and managing all of HFHHC’s major fundraising and giving campaign’s including regular updates, supervision, training, coding strategy, analytics and establishing related policies and procedures. The Director of Fund Development must be proficient in of all software functions, including preparing lists and providing reports and evaluation. This position is responsible for HFHHC major gifts program as well as high-level support to the Executive Director.
Database Management
- Maintain full knowledge of the Charity Proud program including any updates or changes.
- Set up, maintain, analyze, and revise the organization of data in Charity Proud to maximize its potential.
- Write and maintain policies and procedures manual for the use of Charity Proud.
- Ensure all staff and volunteer training for Charity Proud is up to date.
- Develop and follow a consistent data base maintenance program.
Reports and Evaluation
- Prepare Monthly reports summarizing Development revenue and provide to the Executive Director by the third Tuesday of every month.
- Reconcile Development revenue and reconciled bank statements.
- Reconcile pledge records and track matching gifts and pledges.
- Provide data for tithe calculation and temporary restricted funds.
- Supervise other development staff, provide financial reports related to donations and sponsorships and evaluate fundraising progress.
- Maintain sponsorship agreements and contributions and track fulfillment of sponsorship agreements.
Development & Communication
- Liaison to professional grant writing team when applicable.
- Identify new grant funding opportunities on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and submit grant application when applicable.
- Oversee grant administration and compliance.
- Produce and mail quarterly pledge statements/reminders.
- Produce regular reports, including income and expense reports and monthly grant use report.
- Produce mailing lists for all development and marketing mailing, s, communications and invitations.
Event Planning
- Coordinate, oversee and facilitate all fundraising events and preparation.
- Liaison to event coordinator when applicable.
- Maintain current and identify new sponsors and partners for events.
- Identify and facilitate new event opportunities.
- Responsible for and facilitate all other Habitat events including Christmas party and events.
- Faith Relations, Public Relations and Community Outreach
- Cultivate current and new church partnerships.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with current and new churches.
- Present to churches and church groups.
Marketing
- Liaison to marketing services provider when applicable.
- Administer affiliate website updates and oversee individual department changes.
- Responsible for publication of monthly newsletter and all other communications.
- Create and/or oversee press releases and social media posts.
- Prepare Annual Report.
- Develop Affiliate documents including brochures, event material and homeowner information.
Major Gifts Support
- Cultivate current and new donors and volunteers.
- Coordinate and facilitate donor meetings.
- Identify and secure major sponsorships and partnerships.
- Manage donor database for Affiliate and ReStore.
- Oversee all donor mailings.
- Oversee and facilitate Capital Campaign as implemented.
- Manage donor/prospect research process (Charity Proud) and data.
- Support for the Executive Director and Board of Directors
- Assist with preparation and coordination of Board meetings and functions.
- Provide support for Board functions:
- Maintain Board and Committee minutes, schedules, documents and pledge commitments.
- Update Board Policy Manual as necessary
- Demonstrates commitment and passion to Habitat’s mission.
- 4-6 years of related experience in private business or non-profit organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Donor Data bases similar to Charity Proud.
- Experience with grant writing, compliance and donor cultivation.
- Excellent communication and public relation skills and effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with event planning and logistics and volunteer coordination.
- Proven Leadership abilities.
- Ability to provide direction to staff and volunteers, organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to establish, foster and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, the public, and community service agencies.
- Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Working knowledge of standard business software. ( ie. excel, word, publisher)
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
