In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA of Muncie, the person in this position will lead a high performance culture emphasizing quality, productivity, growth, goal attainment and qualitative and quantitative results in the areas of membership services, community health and well-being, and chronic disease prevention.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Monitors and oversees health and chronic disease-related programs as well as membership services related operations and program activities to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conducts and maintains accurate records including program registration forms, program rosters, and equipment.
- Monitors the YMCA’s Corporate Partnership Program and corporate memberships.
- Effectively communicates with current corporate partners and oversees the addition of new corporate partners to the Corporate Partnership Program.
- Increases member and community awareness of health and wellness-related lifestyle factors.
- Establishes new program activities and expands programming with the community in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans.
- Schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed for membership services, health and wellness, and chronic disease-related programming.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certification are current and complete.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Ensures marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and uses Y Voice to effectively tell the YMCA story.
- Develops, monitors and effectively forecasts program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of and participation in the program.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and assists with special events.
- Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Actively participates in and supports the goals of the Annual Campaign through building relationships, engaging volunteers and carrying out other assigned fund raising duties.
- Knows and administers the appropriate EAP (emergency action plan) for any situation, including first aid or CPR, work-related employee injuries, etc. Completes incident and accident reports as required.
- Monitors and assists in the maintenance of a clean and sanitary program and wellness environment and meets all state and local licensing requirements.
- Provides excellent member service and follows membership retention practices of the branch, including responding to inquiries/concerns in timely manner, being courteous and giving sincere attention to members, providing positive and regular feedback to program participants, knowing individual’s names and using their names when speaking to members.
- Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association.
- Attends designated meetings and trainings.
- Participates and contributes towards the goals of program task teams of the Association.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Association Director of Membership.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in health or wellness related field
Skills/Experience:
Education and Certifications
- Completion of YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program training and certifications and other chronic disease related trainings and certifications as necessary preferred
- New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of employment. Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens to be refreshed every 12 months.
- CPR, AED, First Aid, required within first 90 days of employment and kept current.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in instructing and program development, preferably at the YMCA; or a combination of education and experience preferred
- Must possess highly effective communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Knowledge of current health and well-being safety and program standards.
- Strong self-starter and initiator with a passion for service and relationship building
- Minimum of 1 year experience in staff supervision preferred
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and be able to provide own transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors and suppliers, etc.
- Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $36,500.00 - $45,500.00
