The Peer Review Advisor serves as a key member of the Peer Review Team, whose task it is to both plan and execute reviews of World Vision’s Boards and Advisory Councils, ensuring alignment with the relevant standards and policies required by the Partnership. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that assigned reviews are conducted in a professional manner and in accordance with the required standards, requiring the support of up to 7 reviews per annum and the full facilitation of 4. The advisor will also assist the department in numerous additional related aspects including process revisions, review of standards and ad hoc tasks including, but not limited to, the conducting and subsequent analysis of surveys.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage the planning and implementation of assigned peer reviews. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Briefing board/AC Chairs and senior office management on process expectations.
    • Building capacity of self-review teams, working to ensure that deliverables are achieved within the required timeframes.
    • Ensuring that peers are provided the required information to fulfil their responsibilities.
  • For all reviews that require an in-country presence:
    • ensuring that the process is facilitated in a consistent manner and in accordance with the process standards.
    • facilitate the completion of worksheets and finalizing of the peer review report, seeking input from the Peer Review Director as necessary.
    • Up to 7 peer reviews will likely be assigned of which 4 will also require the position holder to facilitate the in-country peer review process.
  • Engage in Continual Process Improvement activities including ensuring that the peer review process remains fully in alignment with the Governance Critical Success Factors, Policies and Guidelines.
  • Engage RGA's and ensure that feedback on recommendations is reported in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Peer Review Director on ad hoc projects including the conducting and analysis of surveys e.g. Federal Health.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree in social sciences or 5+ years relevant experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Fully conversant with MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint plus Lotus Notes.
  • Excellent facilitation, team participation, time management and follow through skills and an ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and board members.
  • Ability to evaluate and provide insights to peers in regards to evidence provided by a NO to demonstrate a boards alignment in respect to Partnership Standards, while maintaining an understanding of the organisation’s culture, values and
  • trends.
  • Prior experience in a review function or discipline.
  • Must be a person of discretion and diplomacy.
  • Excellent evaluative writing and editing skills.
  • Spanish language skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of engaging with board members.
  • French language skills.
  • Ability to be objective and impartial.
  • Ability to adapt to different cultural environments.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 15% of the time.
  • Overseas travel will generally not exceed 4 peer review visits (one week duration each) per year.
