Areas of Responsibility: 

At World Vision, our Christian faith guides our response to the most vulnerable children in our ministry and organisational practices. World Vision’s Global Faith & Development (F&D) team supports this as we work to live out our Christian faith and calling across the Partnership. We do this by supporting the:

  • Equipping of our leaders and staff to live out our faith, by providing training, mentoring and guidance.
  • Developing and scaling guidance and evidence-based models for integrating faith in ministry practice and tackling the roots of poverty, vulnerability and injustice.
  • Ensuring that all entities consistently and clearly communicate our Christian identity and mission, with messaging adapted for their different audiences.
  • Expanding and deepening our partnerships with churches and faith leaders, acting as connectors, and mobilising Christians and the Church together with other faith leaders.

The Global F&D intern will help with key knowledge management and communications initiatives to help improve productivity and capture of key knowledge for F&D practitioners. Essential skills the intern must possess are the following: an understanding or interest of web-page development as well as knowledge management, communications, and training, video editing skills (preferred), a passion for the role of faith and faith actors in development, website management (Sharepoint experience plus), excellent writing and research, attention to detail and strong analysis skills, strong written and interpersonal communication, and project management capabilities with experience completing projects from start-to-finish.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Information management (Sharepoint) including review of existing content for tagging/grouping, development of libraries, uploading resources.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop website pages about World Vision’s Faith & Development work.
  • Develop and edit videos for Faith & Development resources.
  • Copywriting for sector webpages, newsletter, and various campaigns.
  • Support internal communications initiatives including the drafting and editing of content for various World Vision communications channels.
  • Review of Google analytics to understand internal and external website user analytics.
  • Support the continued development of an orientation surrounding the key areas of Faith & Development’s work.

Corporate Services Administrative Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate, graduate student.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Communications, Project Management, Business Administration, Organizational Management, Hospitality.

The Corporate Services team supports initiatives for "building better communities for children" around the world. Corporate Services is comprised of two important components; operational support services and facility management services. We provide support for offices located in Los Angeles, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, London Executive, London Central, New York, Geneva, Seattle and DC.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Help develop and maintain office sites for the respective locations Corporate Services supports (Washington D.C., Federal Way, Global Real Estate/Corporate Services Global and Team sites, Emergency Evacuation site, and Corporate Service site).
  • Help coordinate initial company summer picnic workflows and procedures.
  • Support the World Vision International Reunion event to be held May 2020 with past employees.
  • Collaborate and serve on planning committees (Chapel and Events) to support the office in the planning and coordination of weekly chapels and staff events as needed. Intern must be a team player, be creative, innovative, and influential.
  • The intern will gain significant mentorship, knowledge, and experience through diverse activities that require planning, project coordination, written and verbal communication, project implementation and follow through.
  • Bring existing knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.

Donor Insights and Data Analytics Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate, graduate student, completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Marketing (with data analysis skills).

The Investment & Performance Analytics department is part of World Vision International's Global Marketing & Communications team. The team leads the analysis of global fundraising results, product line performance, market share, and research insights. To do this, we use a variety of tools and techniques, primarily relying on Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Review all research projects commissioned by Global Marketing & Communications for the last several years; draw out key insights; structure and tag the insights in a common data model so marketing leaders across the Partnership can leverage these insights in their work.
  • Build new data templates to streamline reporting of fundraising performance data across fundraising offices.
  • Partner with Intern Manager in other data modeling projects.
  • Participate in Global Marketing & Communications team meetings.

Financial Planning and Analysis Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate, graduate student, completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Finance, Business, Accounting.

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team coordinates the budgeting, planning and forecasting processes for the World Vision Global Centre. The FP&A team is also responsible for consolidating all global financial information for presentation to the CFO, Board of Directors and Senior Leadership. Through forward-looking analytics and reporting, the FP&A team provides data that empowers strategic decision making and wise stewardship.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Develop thorough understanding of World Vision mission, values, and organisational structure.
  • Support the FP&A team to plan for, coordinate and execute the FY21 planning & budgeting process. Tasks may include:
  • Developing various templates, tools and resources.
  • Data entry and consolidation.
  • Performing various financial analysis.
  • Develop thorough understanding of monthly reporting, budget vs. actual/variance analysis, forecasting. Experience in Excel is a must.
  • Support in ad-hoc reporting/projects as needed.

Global Governance Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: International Development, Public Policy, Business Administration, Communications, Graphic Design, Spanish.

World Vision’s size and federal structure relies on boards that add value by ensuring good governance and accountability. Global Governance contributes to the development of a World Vision Partnership, composed of well governed and empowered national offices, led by effective boards that guide, protect and ensure the achievement of the World Vision mission and vision.

Global Governance's role is to support national boards and advisory councils to ensure they govern effectiveness, in alignment with World Vision's missions, vision and values. We support, equip and advise boards to adopt best practices while ensuring adherence to our Core Documents and Partnership policies. The Governance Department is actively working with National Offices and their boards to support their oversight structures and decision making. Spanish language skills are desirable as many of the resources are created for the Latin American National Offices.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Utilise writing and creativity to develop a variety of resources such as short e-learning courses, case studies and other templates and tools that will be used by board members world-wide for training and development. Intern will analyse existing resources to develop materials. Ability to create graphics and presentation visuals and learn new software programmes is beneficial.
  • Review and analysis of existing governance resources to contribute to a comprehensive online resource library and an archival version that will be available to boards and National Office staff worldwide.
  • Correspondence with National Office board contacts to research and collect board information, including member composition, meetings documents and evidence of performance.
  • Development of useful presentations and other resources for department.
  • *Spanish language skills are desirable as many of the resources are created for the Latin American National Offices.

Global Real Estate Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current/recent college graduate, graduate student/completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration and Management, Communications, Project Management.

The Global Real Estate (GRE) division set the Partnership Real Estate Policy and Guidelines for best practices in real estate management for World Vision. GRE provides real estate consultation and oversees real estate projects like lease management, construction and disposal of buildings. GRE captures 2500+ sites worldwide through our Real Estate Asset Management (REAM) database. By collecting real estate data and its operating costs of all our holdings, we can strategise for better asset management and capital planning. Our initiative is "building better communities for children" around the world. We are looking for an intern who possesses proficient knowledge in working with relational data base applications, excellent interpersonal communication skills, professional attitude, good judgement, and is a team player.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Work in the Real Estate Asset Management database and support its users.
  • Collaborate and communicate daily with offices in different countries.
  • Collect, abstract, and cross reference Real Estate property data.
  • Provide support and services to the team in the procurement database.
  • Research ideas, concepts, and processes that may contribute in more efficient standards.
  • Attending and participating in department’s devotions and weekly chapels.

Global Supply Chain Management Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Global Supply Chain and Operations Management, International Business, Economic Development, Non-profit Management, Masters of Business Administration (MBA).

World Vision's Global Supply Chain Management Team (GSCM) manages a vast network of suppliers and is dedicated to ensuring our programmes and offices around the world get the goods and services they need when and where they need them for a competitive price. We achieve this by negotiating global contracts, coordinating with various departments and field offices on a daily basis, and analysing spend data to develop more strategic purchasing strategies. The Global Procurement Office is also dedicated to the pursuit of continuous improvement, looking for ways to more efficiently and effectively use the resources, which have been entrusted to us as an organisation.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Provide adhoc spend analysis to contribute to the goal of strategic and data driven sourcing initiatives.
  • Learn how to navigate World Vision’s eProcurement system.
  • Participate in and manage aspects of Continuous Improvement projects with the aim of finding more effective and efficient ways to perform processes and use resources.
  • Assist staff members with trouble shooting issues within World Vision’s eProcurement system.
  • Support the Global Procurement Office in completing the GPO Internal Supplier Rollout Project.
  • Develop a systematic and sustainable process for evaluating World Vision’s strategic suppliers.

Marketing and Communications Systems Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current undergraduate, recent graduate, graduate student.
  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, Computer Science/Technology (Database Optimization, Search Engine, and Metadata Tagging).

World Vision's Global Marketing and Communication’s Content team is responsible for the storage of over 300,000 valuable digital assets. These assets are the photos, videos and stories that fuel marketing, advocacy and communications across the global World Vision Partnership.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Project research and analysis of content use and patterns.
  • Apply industry best-practices to our library metadata and tagging practices.
  • Assist with improving the Digital Asset Management system to better meet user needs.
  • Develop training materials for new technologies/systems.

Storytelling and Content Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Current undergraduate, recent graduate, graduate student.
  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Editorial Work, Photography, Videography.

World Vision's Global Marketing and Communication’s Content and Storytelling team is responsible for a digital library with thousands of stories with more than 300,000 images and videos. Presently, our team is undertaking an editorial review of these assets to refine the quality of the library and to highlight the best content.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Search through the library and highlight content for use by our staff in future campaigns.
  • Curate content refining the quality of content offered in our systems.
  • Apply appropriate tags that match the subject of the content.

Video Editing/Film Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Communications, Film/Videography, Journalism, Media, Graphic Design.

World Vision’s Global Marketing and Communications Content team constantly gathers high definition, top-quality video footage featuring our work in the field. The intern will be responsible for reviewing footage from prior trips and editing together thematic b-roll collections and will upload these files to our global library (i.e.: “smiling children from Uganda,” or “Cambodia health clinic”). By editing the raw footage into short, excellent b-roll clips, the footage will be easier to use and will be more accessible in the global library. The intern will allow our teams to make better use of existing footage, avoid duplicate trips to the field, and will assist our advocacy and fundraising efforts.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Review archived footage from previous projects and extract key clips that can be used in other projects.
  • Streamline the archive by creating thematic b-roll clips that will be used in future projects.
  • Export final projects into web-resolution files.
  • Uploading files created to the Global Digital Asset Management library for use by staff worldwide.

VisionFund Finance Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate programme.
  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting.

VisionFund International (VFI) is the world's largest Christian microfinance network. VisionFund’s microfinance network works alongside World Vision, to enable communities to increase economic activity, access clean water, education and healthcare, benefit from improvements to nutrition, and provide the foundations for local economies to flourish through Microfinance institutions. VFI’s Finance team works closely with 28 Microfinance Institutions throughout Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe to provide financial services (micro loans, savings, and insurance products) that enable impoverished households to increase their incomes. VFI trains clients to grow successful businesses using their income to support their children and families.

The purpose of the VisionFund Finance Intern role is to assist in the design and implementation of a new loan database. This position will have exposure to loan portfolio, derivatives, and accounting while gaining a clear understanding of Microfinance work in developing countries.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a new loan database.
  • Use MS Excel for loan accruals and derivative analysis.
  • Work with Microfinance institutions to verify portfolio information.
  • Utilise Power BI to assist in the creation of reports and analysis of loan database.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance team to assess database requirements and implement them into the system.
  • Upload credit analysis, loan contract details, and hedges to the database to produce reporting on VisionFund’s portfolio.

VisionFund Financial Reporting Intern:

  • Research external financial reporting dashboards which are visually appealing and increase user interface and efficiency.
  • Assist in the data warehouse transition to a new accounting system which will contain all micro-finance data.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of a new loan database system.

VisionFund Market Research Intern:

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Cross-reference identified data priorities and prevailing market or industry sources associated with demographic and market trends, levels of poverty, levels of financial inclusion, microfinance industry indicators poverty, fragility, etc.
  • Identify optimal data sourcing requirements based on how information is organised, visualised, stored, accessed, costed, and best fed into VFI strategy and knowledge management objectives
  • Consolidate market data reported to the team from global strategy processes and provide development of different visuals of it to provide portfolio views.
  • Liaise with our Partner Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) to identify, prioritise, and/or validate local dimensioned data sources at department/regional levels within countries of operation
  • Organise and structure information for easy access and/or periodic reporting to VFI key stakeholders within VFI and MFIs.
  • Other team support as may be needed at time of engagement.
Educational Background: 
Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate/graduate programme (within 2 years)
Skills/Experience: 
  • All candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week
