This Community Services Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the education and outreach programs, including recruiting, training, and managing community education/outreach volunteers, within the nine county metro area and in Southern MN. The position works collaboratively across the Program Department and with the Director of Volunteer Engagement. The Community Services Manager may also provide technical assistance to ACT on Alzheimer’s communities and perform Provider Outreach, as needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as the point of entry for all education requests and manages the delivery of community, family and professional education in the central office service area and in regional centers to promote the delivery of effective educational classes in Minnesota and North Dakota.  Duties include: 
  • Recruits and supervises consultants, adjunct faculty, community educators for professional and community education classes and events with assistance of Director of Volunteer Engagement
  • Delivers community education and professional training when volunteers are not available
  • Manages  education class promotion / marketing, registration, and delivery
  • Manages education program content on the website 
  • Develops and manages education budget with the Senior Community Services Manager
  • Ensures effective and accurate collection of education & outreach data
  • Provides support for Meeting of the Minds Dementia conference 
  • Recruits, manages, and evaluates Community Education/Outreach volunteers to ensure Alzheimer’s Association presence at community health fairs and education requests in the metro/Southern MN areas, and coordinates health fair priorities in regional areas
  • Evaluates all education programs through CSQEI, reports results to Senior Community Services Manager, staff and volunteers and uses constituent feedback to improve service delivery
  • Ensure imputing and accuracy Personify data entry 
  • Assist with the promotion of  program services in collaboration with Marketing Department
  • Develops partnerships with community organizations and care providers to increase Alzheimer’s Association education participants
  • Manages and delivers community educator trainings in collaboration with the Senior Community Services Manager
  • Perform  Physician Outreach activities, as directed
  • Assists with ACT on Alzheimer’s community requests
  • Coaches and mentors program staff and volunteers on education delivery, as needed
  • Serves on the team that works on Long-Term Care systems change
Educational Background: 
Bachelors of Arts degree minimum. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years of Volunteer Management, including volunteer recruiting, training, managing and evaluating
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strategic thinking
  • Ability to prioritize big picture ideas and execute into tangible actions
  • Experience in adult education, caregiving issues and Alzheimer’s disease/other dementias, preferred
  • Experience working with diverse communities, preferred
  • Learns quickly, flexible, and open to change
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, work with a diverse community and colleagues
  • Cooperative personality, excellent communication and listening skills
  • Strong presentation skills and previous experience as a public speaker or educator
  • Strong organizational, project management skills, and  possess the ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail
  • Willingness to work on evenings and weekends, if necessary
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.  Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and insurance
