The Head of Risk & Compliance is a key position within World Vision UK. The role takes the lead in developing, implementing and embedding a robust governance and accountability framework for risk and compliance. This will ensure World Vision UK is fully aware of its responsibilities, has appropriate management that drives compliance and that trustees are kept fully informed of compliance gaps and actions plans.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure risk and compliance requirements are understood and integrated into all organisational plans and strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, accountability and monitoring systems are developed, implemented and embedded from SLT to operational levels.
  • Support and advise SLT to ensure robust action plans are in place to fill identified gaps.
  • Develop and implement organisational wide reporting to SLT and trustees with risk status updates and governance gaps.
  • Promote an appropriate culture across World Vision UK of regulatory awareness and compliance, by providing advice, training and support to all levels.
  • Liaise with risk and compliance managers across the World Vision Partnership, working together to align standards and processes.
  • Ensure Directors have put in place appropriate arrangements with regards to compliance with the law and take advice as required.
  • Be the main point of contact with the Charity Commission, ICO and other relevant regulators in reporting serious incidents and other matters as required including seeking advice as appropriate.
  • Line management responsibility for two compliance officers.
Educational Background: 
Educated to degree level or with significant work experience at a comparable level.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Significant experience of working in professional risk management and of relevant regulation and legislation and their implications.
  • Membership of a relevant external professional association (e.g. legal, Institute of Risk Management etc) and/or experience of relevant external networks for INGO risk and compliance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in building effective relationships and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Line Management experience.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills.
