Senior Coordinator, Program Support, Hurricane Irma Recovery

It has been more than four months since Hurricane Irma struck Florida but the impact of the storm continues to be felt by children, families and communities. Save the Children has been on the ground since the immediate aftermath of the storm, helping kids cope and working with partners to begin the long road toward recovery. As this work continues, Save the Children is seeking a Program Support Coordinator to provide support to all aspects of program planning and implementation in the Hurricane Irma Recovery Program. Under the direction of the Team Leader s/he will focus on reporting and documentation; monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL); and program/event planning and logistical support for programs implemented directly by Save the Children and by partners. The position will be based in Miami with frequent travel to field sites in South Florida, and occasionally elsewhere.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Reporting and documentation – 30%

  • Draft monthly situational reports (sitreps) and submit to Team Leader for distribution to internal stakeholders; ensure ongoing improvement of sitreps in such areas as data quality; narrative richness; and updates on the overall situation and environment
  • Coordinate compiling of six-month and other periodic reports on Irma Program for HO and donors.
  • Monitor and ensure timely submission of quality partner narrative program reporting.
  • Document stories about program accomplishments and progress that can be used in media, narrative reporting, and other communications outreach.
  • Assist partners with documentation as appropriate.

 Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) – 30%

  • Ensure that program inputs, outputs and results are tracked and reported according to Save the Children MEAL guidelines.
  • Work with USPA and other departments as needed to ensure that MEAL guidelines are clearly understood and applied to all program areas.
  • Ensure that Irma reporting on program activities reflects not just numbers of beneficiaries reached, but also the richness and scope of their impact.
  • Ensure that community members and partner staff are involved in and informed of MEAL process and program progress.
  • Recommend ways to improve programs based on lessons learned from MEAL data.

Program planning and logistics – 40%

  • Assist with the planning of SC’s program activities, including those implemented by partners.
  • Coordinate with partner and SC colleagues to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Ensure that logistical preparations for activities are arranged efficiently and cost effectively, in adherence to SC policies and procedures.
Educational Background: 
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Skills/Experience: 

Required Qualifications

  • You have a minimum 3-4 years' work experience in area of expertise
  • You have learned knowledge and technical skills to support semi-complex tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in an educational and/or psychosocial role
  • Demonstrated familiarity with issues related to US domestic emergency response and recovery.
  • Well organized with excellent active listening skills.
  • Outstanding English language skills required; Spanish and/or Haitian Creole a plus.
  • Capacity to prepare and edit computer-based presentations and informational learning materials with minimal oversight.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and other appropriate software.
  • Highly collaborative team player with willingness and ability to work on tight deadlines at times, to listen and learn, and to demonstrate SC values.
  • Knowledgeable about professional use of Social Media preferred.
