Great opportunity to join a growing fundraising team in New Orleans, with recent development success and association expansion goals.

The Grant Writer and Development Coordinator for the YMCA of Greater New Orleans serves as the principal writer and researcher for grant proposals and organizes Annual Campaign tasks. This includes working directly with branch staff to send solicitation requests to prospects, organize in-branch campaign events, and support staff in meeting Annual Campaign goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, government and corporate sources.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants.
  • Work with branch staff, finance, and other personnel to gather information necessary to complete applications and to report to funders on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting, as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors to provide regular written updates on programs.
  • Schedule appointments with foundation officers and other prospects, arrange for on-site tours for supporters and other stakeholders, and attend meetings/events as needed.
  • Maintain current records in Raisers Edge fundraising database and in the grants calendar, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Organize and create materials for the Annual Campaign, such as solicitation letters, brochures, banners, etc.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects, as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and produce high-quality work.
  • At least two years of professional experience in grant writing or equivalent position.
  • Prior development experience.
  • Excellent English language skills.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00
