Under the general direction of the Associate Executive Director of the South Mountain and East Orange YMCAs, the Family Services Administrator is responsible for family services, communication, and advocacy for the South Mountain ECLC and Preschool Camps, and consulting with branches across the Association on matters related to special needs support. Major components include: enrollment and registration, ongoing parent communication and relationship-building, support for inclusion of children with special needs, and support and direction of ECLC staff, particularly at the end of day during pick-up time.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supports families and staff, including facilitating inclusion of children with special needs. Advocates for families, and assists staff with techniques within the classroom to help children be successful in ECLC and Preschool camp programs, and at other branches across the Association.
- Assist with preparation and implementation of annual operating budget.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families, and address and resolve questions and concerns.
- Provides or coordinates relevant parent education through written resources, workshops, and family resource programs.
- Lead the Parent Advisory Committee activities and communication.
- Communicate with parents through weekly parent letters and social media.
- Plan and implement center-wide special events for families, and support classroom family events.
- Works with ECLC management team to plan special events and communications for alumni, and maintains alumni relations.
- Provides supervision for staff as needed, particularly at end-of-day, during prime parent pick-up time; is available and present for staff and parents during this time frame.
- Supports Pre-school camp functions, including preparing parent communication pieces such as letters and webs.
- Maintains records such as class lists and attendance sheets, and ensures accuracy.
- Supports all regulatory requirements, including licensing regulations and association policies related to child safety.
- Supports families and staff to facilitate inclusion of children with special needs. Advocates for families, and assists staff with techniques within the classroom to help children be successful in ECLC and Pre-School camp programs.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of successful early childhood and special education practices and quality program development.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification (training provided).
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have flexible work schedule, and the ability to work until 7:00pm on a regular basis.
- Experience working with children with special needs, and ability to support inclusion in the classroom.
- Experience working with diverse families.
- Demonstrated success in developing relationships with families.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $44,274.00 - $55,343.00
