Habitat for Humanity International is seeking a Senior Specialist-Executive Communications to create and help execute a communications strategy for its CEO that aligns with Habitat for Humanity’s strategic plan and advances the organization’s visibility and reputation with external and internal audiences. The position will report to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Global Communications Strategy and work closely with the Executive Communications Services Manager.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop communications materials for the CEO including but not limited to contributed articles, press statements, speeches and presentations. (25%)
  • Develop and manage the CEO’s speakers bureau calendar. (15%)
  • Manage the CEO’s social media calendar and provide support on content creation, including Twitter and LinkedIn. (20%)
  • Develop briefing materials for speaking engagements and events. (15%)
  • Draft letters of congratulations, recognition, appreciation to partner contacts, key stakeholders and peer organizations. (15%)
  • Other Communications Division projects as assigned. (10%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strengthen the CEO’s social media presence and voice (Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Ability to take complex issues/details and creating messaging or remarks that will resonate with key audiences
  • Effectively provide recommendations for speaking and media opportunities that align with strategic plan and elevates Habitat’s brand visibility
  • Years of Related Experience: 6 years
  • Experience in executive communications, public relations, corporate communications or marketing
  • Experience with managing a brand or an executive’s social media accounts
  • Attention to detail; strong persuasive writing skills; ability to recognize and write in the voice of the CEO; strong research skills; keen listening skills; outstanding customer service skills; proven ability to juggle and appropriately prioritize multiple assignments
  • Knowledge of best practices in marketing, communications and public relations
  • The ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds, expertise and locations

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience working with senior leadership
  • Experience working in nonprofit environment
  • Experience with housing industry or issues
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and PowerPoint
  • Proven success working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Strong knowledge of AP Style best practices
