As the Online Instructional Designer/eFacilitator your primary focus will be the design of Livelihoods online course offerings on eCampus, which is World Visions online learning (Moodle) platform designed to provide predominantly field based staff and partners access to high-quality learning opportunities.
As the Online Instructional Designer/eFacilitator you will be a valued member of a globally dispersed training team of Instructional Designers and eFacilitators supported by a Senior Learning Advisor and administrator. In addition to designing courses you will also be required to develop the capacity of Livelihoods Subject Matter Experts to facilitate the offerings you design, initially through co-facilitation and then through monitoring and supervision.
Ideally you have an International Development background, most importantly you have an Adult Learning background with experience in the design of both synchronous and asynchronous online learning experiences.
You will contribute to and be guided by World Vision PALS (Project Model Accredited Learning and Support) approach to online learning. You will be responsible for planning, organising and implementing online learning programs globally - for individual and organisational outcomes. You will work with key stakeholders to determine learning and development needs and work alongside subject matter experts to design and deliver solutions that drive performance and continually increase program effectiveness. In addition, you will be accountable for delivering ongoing support, creating sustainability and measuring the effectiveness of learning programs.
This role requires strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills. You will have the ability to translate between technical and business language, and the ability to develop capacity building solutions to help address programming challenges, based on change management and adult learning principles. You must also be able to gather and analyze information from a variety of sources. In addition, you need strong interpersonal skills, as will be are required to work with staff of all levels, integrate information and edits from multiple people who may have disparate or conflicting viewpoints.

Instructional Design:
- Plan and design offerings based on the PALS design principles.
- Identify and work with Livelihoods Subject Matter Experts.
- Align Learning Design to competencies, agreed Project Models and any face to face offerings being developed by the TSO.
- Lead collaborative design efforts alongside internal and external consultants and project partners.
- Use an agile approach to workshop design and adhere to design timeframes.
- Use a combination of self-paced orientations, micro learning and asynchronous eWorkshops approach to online design to best suit learners needs.
- Design and build offerings to guarantee a consistent user experience across PALS offerings.
- Design offerings for ESL (English as a second language) and low-bandwidth accessibility.
- Design offerings within budgetary constraints.
- Develop course communications, application forms, evaluation forms etc.
- Document eFacilitaor eWorkshop notes.
- Identify and recruit facilitators and ensure efacilitaor is training complete prior to course pilot.
- Pilot offering alongside eFacilitaor, seek feedback and update design based on this feedback.
- Seek sign off on offering with relevant stakeholders.
- Continue to evolve the PALS design approach in collaboration with the broader PALS Design team.
eFacilitation:
- Host introductory information sessions for participants and managers.
- Focus of creating a learning environment that is welcoming, conducive to active participation and group collaboration.
- Post regular announcements to guide learning.
- Providing one on one support to participants including, responding to participants comments and questions posted online, or via email or skype.
- Monitor participants task submissions and other assessments.
- Maintain records on participants progress/grades.
- Follow up with non-active participants and their managers as needed.
- Undertake administrative requirements including: completing daily grading book, updating the course pages.
- Identify and induct eWorkshop eFacilitators.
- Co-facilitate alongside Subject Matter Experts.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and constructive feedback to new and emerging efacilitators.
- Evaluation co-facilitation and user experience.
- Produce course evaluation reports.
Team Collaboration:
- Commitment to ongoing relationships development and strong communications across diverse, distant team.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the PALS Handbook, planning and budgeting processes.
- Participate in PALS team meetings, one on meetings, and represent PALS in relevant sectorial meetings.
- Extensive experience and recognized expertise in models and methods of learning design, training, facilitation and capacity building (both online and offline).
- Demonstrated depth of experience and effectiveness in an NGO (or similar) context in working with community/grassroot people and organisations in local economic development.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Full ability to communicate cross-culturally and be cross-culturally sensitive.
- High degree of proficiency in using email, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Professional, Moodle, (Articulate and video production competence will be looked upon favorably).
- Substantial experience in most or all of the key tasks required in the role.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems constructively and efficiently.
- Preferably involvement in relief/development work.

Work Environment/Travel:
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours where necessary to accommodate any time differences between self and supervisor/other colleagues.
- Working from home is optional in all cases, but may be necessary in those cases where no suitable office space is available locally.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
