Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board Chair of Habitat for Humanity Philippines, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for developing the capacity of the National Organization in coordination with its Board of Directors/governing body to fulfill the purposes of Habitat for Humanity in the country. S/he enables sound organizational growth throughout the country through effective consultation on strategic and operational development. The Chief Executive Officer provides servant leadership to the National Organization, its volunteers and staff, and its programs and partnerships.

Areas of Responsibility: 

 

Servant Leadership:

  • Model servant leadership and motivate the other leaders of the National Organization to effectively manage its vision and resources, and to skillfully shepherd its stakeholder and homeowner partners.
  • Demonstrate and articulate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ and ensure that the HFH Philippines and HFH Int’l core values permeate the organization at all levels, but especially at the local level with communities and families in need.

Vision and Planning:

  • Develop and guide the vision and long-term goals of the National Organization in collaboration with the board or HFH Philippines, and facilitate the development of strategic plans and business plans to achieve both the National and Area visions and purposes, reflecting Habitat principles and core values.
  • Integrate National vision with HFHI Asia/Pacific Area vision and purposes, with personal participation as appropriate in Regional or Area initiatives.
  • Develops, submits and secure approval of the Board of Trustees and HFHI for an annual business plan and budget.

Governance:

  • Ensure organizational stability and sustainability by supporting the Board Chair in building a wise, skilled, committed, and balanced board of directors or other governing body, marked by integrity and upholding the Habitat mission. 
  • Assist in recommending qualified members, participate in meetings as an ex officio member, collaborate in policy development, ensure resolutions are implemented, and serve as liaison between the Board of Directors (or other governing body) and the National Organization’s staff and partners.
  • Identifies key risks that could prevent the achievement of the strategic plan and proposes relevant mitigation measures keeping upper management and the national board fully informed.

Human Resource Management:

  • Recruit, develop, manage, and evaluate personnel to promote the purposes and achieve the goals of the organization, including staff, advisors, and volunteers. Develop and deploy effective training programs and equitable human resource systems to invest in and retain people of quality, who are devoted to the mission, as the primary resource of the organization.
  • Facilitates an effective change management process in order to strengthen the organizational culture creating a conducive environment of collaboration, team work and accountability across the organization.
  • Build and provides leadership and strategic direction to a highly capable senior management team promoting cross departmental collaboration and coordination.

Program Management & General Operations:

  • Develop new program and project areas aligned with HFHI’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Capitalize on opportunities and overcome obstacles to achieve program scale, stability, and sustainability growth goals in alignment with Habitat principles and core values.
  • Oversee program planning, management, and evaluation through new project development and/or innovative partnerships; construction and appropriate technology quality control systems.
  • Evaluate, document, and report program results and ensure construction and appropriate technology quality control systems.
  • Ensure effective volunteer recruitment, support and engagement in the program.
  • Ensures overall compliance with HFH policies and standards as well as with local rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that high quality control systems and procedures are applied across the organization.
  • Ensures compliance of program and finance operations according to donor requirements and reporting.
  • Oversees the financial sustainability of the organization ensuring that potential financial risks are identified early and are appropriately communicated to upper management.
  • Ensures that key strategic initiatives receive full support in order to achieve the financial and programmatic targets of the organization.
  • Maintains positive working relations with relevant government bodies, HFHI Asia Pacific Office, international organizations and or local partners.

Stewardship and Accountability

  • In consultation with the board and HFHI ensure the fiscal, legal and programmatic integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of the organization, including oversight of fiscal planning and budgeting, internal controls and external audits, mortgage tracking and statistical documentation, and accurate and timely fiscal and narrative reporting both to the Area Office and other donors.
  • Ensure program stability and the security of capital by securing governmental registration and approval and/or negotiating binding partnership agreements.

Resource Development and Communications:

  • Ensure self sustainability of the organization maximizing the potential fundraising opportunities in the country.
  • Ensure the development of resources adequate to achieve short- and long-term strategic plans.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of annual resource development campaigns including deployment of systems, communications materials, and expansion initiative.
  • Diversify constituencies creatively, including students and youth, international visitors, and faith groups.
  • Represent the organization and maintain effective relations with all stakeholders, including government officials, donors and sponsors, partners, homeowners, and the public at large.
  • Coordinate with the HFHI AP Resources Development department in fundraising initiatives with multinational corporations having international linkages with other HFHI entities so that the global and local relationship is strengthened and further developed.
Educational Background: 
Masters preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A track-record of effective and exemplary servant leadership and general management.
  • Experience in managing people, budgets and other resources required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, diplomacy, and adaptability.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in the primary working language(s) of the country of posting is preferred.
  • Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and email software applications.
  • Good financial management and accounting skills.
  • Familiarity with construction and appropriate technology preferred, but not required.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the local culture, society, laws and custom.
  • Experience in Human Resources management.
