The Republic Bank Foundation YMCA of Greater Louisville is seeking a highly motivated, team orientated, compassionate individual to serve the role of Teen & Families/Youth Sports Director. This position will play a key role in the coordination of the Youth Engagement in Sports (YES) Initiative. The ideal candidate will possess a social work/case management background and be capable of utilizing engagement strategies proven to be successful with helping youth and families overcome barriers to program involvement for physical, mental, and spiritual development. The Teen & Families/Youth Sports Director will have a unique career opportunity to lead the delivery of the YES Initiative, which will significantly improve the health and well-being of the underserved West Louisville population of teen and families. Additionally, is position will oversee all aspects of recruitment and coordination of program offerings such as jump rope, running, flag football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and more; as well as actively participate as a member of the branch leadership team, risk management, annual giving and fiscal management. The Teen & Families/Youth Sports Director will have dual reporting to the Executive Director and Community Integrated Health Specialist.

- Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures in managing high-risk activities and appropriate boundaries of supervision. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.
- Be a role model for youth
- Encourage participants to utilize YMCA membership and provide connection to other YMCA and community resources as necessary
- Ability to connect with people with diverse needs, languages and socio-economic backgrounds
- Adheres to the YMCA’s HIPAA policies and procedures and ensure participants’ protected health information is secure.
Program Promotion
- Cross promotes membership and programming through a variety of avenues: social media, flyers, etc.
- Work with marketing and membership to ensure that program promotion is correct, timely, and up to date
Program Management
- Responsible for coordination of a minimum of 300 youth engaged in organized YMCA sports
- Responsible for planning, implementation, and development of Youth Sports, Adult Sports, and Special Events.
- Responsible for knowing, understanding, and overseeing the sports programming under “Best Practices” to ensure a quality program
- Works hands-on building the YMCA Sports Program, Yes Program, & Special Events including game day supervision, set up/tear down, refereeing, monitoring, scorekeeping etc.
- Provides assistance and guidance with all programmatic pieces of the YES Initiative, must be present at each session and event
Supervision
- Supervision of 10+ part-time staff and 100+ volunteer coaches
- Maintains positive relationships with the members, participants, staff, supervisor, and partnering agencies
- Responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising volunteers/staff for YMCA Sports Programs and Special Events
- Establishes and maintains good communication with parents, staff, and branch leadership, including trainings as needed to keep all informed and certified as needed.
Budget
- Monitor income/expenses and stay within budget of all programs. Variances reported monthly to supervisors.
- Provide input in the development of the sports/special events budget
- Ensure that all YES expenditures and guidelines are being fulfilled
- Monitor staffing patterns and make recommendations or changes to fulfill program quality
- Spreads awareness of Annual Giving Campaign efforts and supports volunteers in their fundraising efforts
- A passion for and experience working with urban communities and vulnerable populations
- Previous experience coordinating programs and staff
- History of developing and sustaining successful community partnerships
- Ability to successfully demonstrate basic health and wellness principles
- Possess a basic knowledge of organized youth sports
- CPR/First Aid Certified (30 days post-hire)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- HIPAA training required, provided by the YMCA of Greater Louisville
- Ability to work both independently and as a team
- Strong multi-tasking, organization and time management skills.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

STARTING SALARY: $40,000+ (commensurate with experience)
