The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a part-time and temporary Development Coordinator in our Great Rivers Affiliate office located in Louisville, KY. This person will be responsible for providing support to the special events in the Louisville metro. This includes, but is not limited to: Heart Ball, Go Red For Women Luncheon and Heart Walk.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides logistical, pre-event, night of/day of and post event support for upcoming special events in the Louisville metro
  • Manages and maintains databases including the online event management program. Includes; data entry of participants, sponsorships and donations and generating reports
  • Written correspondence including memos, presentations, newsletters, meeting minutes, meeting agendas, etc
  • Provides support to Go Red For Women during February for ‘Heart Month’ that includes recruitment and communication with companies to wear red, fundraising event logistics, open your heart asks to committee members and committee logistics support and table host visits with donors and volunteers.
  • Provides support to the Heart Walk team for executive events, fundraising events, Move More Month support, new company recruitment and company recruitment for multiple other campaign programs.
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or equivalent required, college experience or degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years' experience in an administrative support role
  • A strong customer service focus and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience working with committees and senior-level executives may be helpful (C-Suite)
  • Excellent written communication skills as acquired through undergraduate studies and as required for executive correspondence
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage details effectively
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet
  • Ability to meet firm deadlines and manage expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • Experience managing electronic data and records helpful
  • High degree of initiative and follow through
  • Self-starter with capacity to work well as an individual contributor, take direction and work as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and pleasant under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of AHA staff, volunteers and the public with strong levels of professionalism and emotional intelligence
