The Walk Coordinator position supports the planning and implementation of the Walk to End Alzheimer's and other fundraising events in various locations. The Walk Coordinator will work with the Walk and development team to implement plans and strategies to meet fundraising and other departmental goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Oversee the successful implementation of several regional Walks and other revenue generating events to reach fundraising goals.
- Recruit, develop, manage and retain volunteers and volunteer leaders including team captains, walkers and special event volunteers.
- Coordinate event logistics.
- Solicit and cultivate sponsors and participate in promotion and marketing activities.
- Provide operational support to the development function, including customer service, donor recognition, social media management, public relations, database management and vendor relations.
- Prepare and distribute communications to volunteers and donors via several platforms.
- Maintain and oversee budgets and financials for assigned events; prepare reports and provide information as requested and required.
- Contribute to a work environment that supports teamwork, collaboration and cooperation between volunteers, participants, sponsors, and staff.
- Meet the strategic goals of the position, including fundraising, attendance and sponsorship numbers.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree preferred. An equivalency of work experience and education may be considered
Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience working in a non-profit, preferably in a development role
- A minimum of two years of experience coordinating fundraising events.
- Experience with fundraising events such as a walk preferred
- Experience in volunteer management, supervision and support
- Ability to independently multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with little supervision
- Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as proficiency with database entry and management
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel frequently throughout the territory
- Access to reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
