Director, Entertainment and Influencer Relations

Save the Children is expanding its talent influencers team. The Director of Entertainment and Influencer Relations will develop and lead strategies for positioning Save the Children in the entertainment industry and for recruiting, managing and engaging talent influencers who align with Save the Children’s values and brand. This role will help shape a talent influencer strategy to drive brand awareness of and engagement for Save the Children’s campaigns and events. The position is based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

Create and manage engagement strategies for talent influencers (35%)

  • Develop and lead planned and reactive engagement strategies, especially around the agency’s major campaign moments, for members of Save the Children’s Celebrity Cabinet and for new talent influencers.
  • Collaborate with publicists, managers and other representatives from the entertainment industry.
  • Organize, manage and provide on-site support to talent influencers at events, thought leadership moments and activities, ranging from red carpet events to live-streams to field program visits.
  • Oversee and coordinate field visits with field office staff and content creators to deliver on Save the Children’s campaign priorities.
  • Achieve metrics for brand awareness through media and social media placements and for digital engagement.
  • Analyze trends and results to drive creative ideas and to amend strategies, accordingly.
  • Collaborate with peers from talent influencer team, media and communications, brand management and creative content, digital marketing and fundraising, as appropriate.
  • Provide input to talent relations specialist in updating toolkits, and other materials. Budget accountability for special projects.

Recruit and cultivate talent influencers (30%)

  • Design, develop and drive strategies for recruiting and securing new U.S. talent influencers, including an increased focus on digital influencers, who fit with Save the Children’s brand identity and values, whose fans/followers align with Save the Children’s target audience and who have a passion for and commitment to our mission.
  • Cultivate and grow existing relationships in Save the Children’s Celebrity Cabinet. Create tailored communications materials for pitching and outreach to talent influencers, agents, managers and publicists.

Position Save the Children in the entertainment industry (20%)

  • Identify opportunities, and create and execute strategies to increase Save the Children’s visibility and presence as a top-of-mind children’s charity in the entertainment industry.
  • Represent Save the Children at entertainment industry events. Expand Save the Children’s network of entertainment industry contacts across sectors. 

Create communications and content strategies for the talent influencers program (15%)

  • Develop communications, content and digital strategies tailored to talent influencers, partnerships, integrated agency campaigns and promotions.
  • Collaborate with media and communications, creative and brand management teams.
  • Research, write, edit and produce tailored communications materials, including statements, messages, social media posts, remarks, among other items, to align with the agency’s brand and messaging.
  • Provide input on and oversee creative assets, such as photos and videos. Perform other responsibilities, as required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Seven to 10 years of work experience in entertainment and celebrity relations; client and project management; and risk management.
  • Proven networking and relationship-building skills with a capacity to influence others.
  • Wide network of existing relationships with industry execs and talent influencers, especially with digital influencers.
  • Demonstrated track record of creating and executing successful talent influencer and brand awareness campaigns for non-profits, corporate clients or entertainment clients.
  • Excellent written and communications skills. Solid understanding of digital media across platforms.
  • Understanding of pop culture and entertainment industry trends.
  • Experience working with the media
  • A confident self-starter who is creative, collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work within budgets.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask and work within deadlines.
  • A keen understanding of our target demographic – mothers between ages 25 to 45, with children age 5 and under, a plus
  • Passionate and committed to global child development and humanitarian issues
  • The job may require after-hours and weekend work, particularly around disaster and emergency campaigns; and travel in the United States and globally.
