The Development Manager will recruit, engage, train, schedule and ensure recognition of volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Association Central & North Florida Chapter. This individual will provide leadership in planning, coordinating and executing the Longest Day.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Effectively recruit, train, monitor and retain a suitable volunteer committee across all counties for The Longest Day
- Create and build relationships with community organizations to grow the Chapter’s volunteer base and revenue
- Ensure volunteers engagement through consistent and effective communication.
- Serve as liaison to Chapter committees and external professional networking groups as assigned
- Maintain monthly reports, service statistics and volunteer records
- Execute overall plan for growth of The Longest Day to include committee recruitment, team recruitment and cultivation, achieve revenue goal and maintain approved expenses
- Assist in the identification of compelling volunteer stories to support media efforts
- Provide leadership and support to event committees to ensure successful implementation
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in management, events management or related field
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, retention and supervision, and events management preferred
- Knowledge of strategic planning, budget development and volunteer and events management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook; Internet proficient; ability to learn volunteer specific software
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of volunteers, staff, and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams
- Ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and electronically to a variety of audiences
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions
- Display evidence of motivational skills and initiative; takes independent action
- Ability to seek ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness
- High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
- Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties; ability to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment and supplies
- Willingness to work frequent irregular hours, high volume of public contact & public speaking; work may be stressful at times. Travel by car throughout the territory of the Central & North Florida Chapter
