Since 1970, the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) has funded Arthritis research to understand the causes, prevention and development of new treatments for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, juvenile arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.   • Research Travel Grants: Facilitate the direct access of young trainees and scientists with limited resources to participate in professional meetings and publish their work.
  • Scientific Symposiums: Convene top minds in scientific research and clinical care to collaborate and cross-pollinate.

The organization is seeking two dynamic and experienced professionals who, in partnership with the CEO, will drive revenue through multi-faceted fund development plans for i) Corporate, Foundations and Industry giving, and ii) Individual donors, Workplace campaign and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising. The organization is launching new development initiatives to bolster its existing revenue streams from individual gifts, donor-advised-funds, planned giving, foundation grants, social responsibility funds, workplace campaign contributions and other cause-driven partnerships. That is in addition to developing new corporate sponsorships and industry partnerships to cultivate new donor portfolios and leverage Artificial Intelligence and P2P tools in fundraising, as appropriate.

Development Director, Individuals, Corporate, Industry & Foundations.

Responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of ANRF’s Corporate, Industry and Foundations development program, the Director will report to the CEO and will have the unique opportunity to help build the organization’s development effort in Corporate, Industry, Foundations, P2P and Individual giving during a period of growth and change. She/he will also work with the Board’s Development Committee to organize, manage and support board asks. Must be comfortable working within a fast-paced, outcomes-oriented work environment.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities include:

Fund Development

  • In support of strategic goals, implement strategies for development plan execution focused on Corporations, Industry (biotech and pharmaceutical companies) & Foundations.
  • In support of strategic goals, implement strategies for development plan execution focused on donor engagement at multiple levels, individual major gifts, workplace campaigns, combined Federated campaigns and State employees giving as well as social fundraising and Peer-to-Peer giving and targeted campaigns.
  • With CEO, create donor cultivation and stewardship strategies within a portfolio structure.
  • Identify prospective major Industry giving at the $25,000+ level
  • Management leadership giving donors and prospects, with a focus on qualification, acquisition, and upgraded giving
  • Manage major giving stewardship, working closely with the CEO
  • Proactively utilize best practices for reporting to assist with prospect research, assignment, donor profiles, and other departmental needs
  • Track progress towards annual KPIs (proactive phone calls, program ROI, FTE productivity)
  • Conceptualizes and develops materials, statistics, and other information for development reports,
  • Coordinates Development Committee meetings
  • Collaborate to create brochures and other collateral materials to promote giving opportunities
  • Review donor trends; prepare reports to determine effective acquisition and stewardship strategies
  • Provide thoughtful and consistent stewardship including benefit fulfillment for donors.
  • Document all activity and contacts in CRM tracking databases in an accurate and timely manner, with support from administrative staff.

Prospecting and Data Management

  • Conducts donor research and segments database to identify gift prospects and develops a timeline and structure to facilitate communication.
  • Manage a growing portfolio of existing and new leadership donors.
  • Manage a database of existing and new Individual, workplace and P2P donors.
  • Creates prospect profiles for staff and volunteer leadership, as needed.
  • Develops and implements strategies to surface new high net worth families with Arthritis and Autoimmune Diseases.
  • Serves as a conduit for board members to identify potential sources of support, both financial and volunteer.
  • Manages implementation of development plan to strengthen ROI, including:
    • Gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
    • Fundraising messaging, solicitation and acknowledgement.
    • Support for constituent-led fundraising events.

Corporate & Foundation grant proposals.

  • With the CEO, develops case for support language and material focusing on Industry partners and Foundations. Tailor proposals to specific RFA and opportunity. 
  • Supports national outreach activities and events, including cultivation events in selected markets.
  • Supervises the generation of acknowledgement letters and conducts donor-related administrative activities, with support from administrative staff.
  • Explores retailers/brands that may be interested in taking Arthritis Related Marketing
  • Communicate with donors regarding their gifts and the work of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO to best support the Foundation’s mission

 

Skills/Experience: 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • At least seven years professional fundraising experience in Corporate, Industry or Foundations relations
  • Annual fund expertise with direct mail and social media platforms.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; high-energy, proactive, entrepreneurial self-starter.
  • Team player who will be a collegial partner to staff, constituents and external stakeholders.
  • Proven writing, editing and oral communication skills.
  • A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Tech savvy, proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and CRM (knowledge of Salsa is a plus).
