In charge of the water supply unit comprising of Piped Water Supply Teams that is responsible for provision of, sustainable community demanded and community-managed water supply and sanitation systems and other infrastructures as a means of supporting APs in implementing key programs that will lead to increased access to sustainable safe water and environmental sanitation and improved livelihoods.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead and guide WASH Water Supply section team in line with existing WV policies, for effective delivery of safe and portable water to targeted communities across all APs for the attainment of Child Well Being Aspirations.
- Manage and lead implementation of all WASH program water supply and sanitation deliverables through proper development and execution of implementation strategies and schedules so that Malawi WASH (MWASH) major outcomes are met within scope, time, quality and budget
- Manage all resources, equipment and finances assigned to the water supply section, leading to machine operation effectiveness and sustainable and prolonged delivery of portable water to targeted communities.
- Champion networking and collaboration with WASH local and regional key stakeholders to enhance the promotion of best practices and compliance to existing and or new local and regional statutes that come to be so that MWASH is responsive to the sector demands
- Design and/or analyse new or existing WASH infrastructure for technical, financial and social compatibility in line with WASH and National standards leading to WASH interventions that are demand driven and of structural and environmental soundness
- Manage data collection, processing and storage for all WASH infrastructure units in World Vision Malawi for purposes of knowledge, local and global reporting and institutional memory.
- Reinforce equity, safety and sustainable environmental management in World Vision Malawi by promoting major cross cutting themes, including advocacy, environment and gender so that child well-being aspirations as wholesomely tackled
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources Management/ Civil Engineering or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
- Perform other duties as required.
- The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- At least 6 years progressive experience in the water sector
Preferred:
- Practical hands on knowledge of design and construction of structures and water supply systems.
- Experience in working with communities in demand driven community-managed projects is a plus.
- Project management and design experience, as well as project implementation and monitoring & evaluation.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Public relations, marketing, and communications skills in both English and Chichewa.
- Strong detail orientation.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office, Lotus Notes and engineering software.
