The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a highly regarded national voluntary health services agency, is seeking a Research Scientist for its growing R&D laboratory in Lexington, MA. The focus of our laboratory is to utilize stem cell biology to advance cell based therapies for CF while developing assays to test potential therapeutics for patients with cystic fibrosis.
Looking for a cell culture scientist to join the Stem Cell Biology Group working on experiments pertaining cell based therapies for CF. Including gene editing/subcloning novel iPS lines, and iPS to airway lineage directed differentiation experiments.
Day to day work responsibilities would include: general tissue culture related duties (maintaining / splitting undifferentiated iPS lines, and initiating and continuing differentiating experiments). Conduct routine experiments with primary human bronchial epithelial cells, human nasal epithelial cells (Air Liquid Interface and Organoid). With oversight and training, master immunostaning and confocal microscopy and FACS. Analyze and interpret data and microscopic results, intellectually contributing to presentations, posters, and lab meetings through written materials and figure production.
- Proficiency with general laboratory techniques including immunostaining / microscopy, qRT-PCR, flow cytometry, Western blots, is required.
- Strong knowledge of developmental biology and/or airway progenitor / stem cell biology preferred.
- Proficiency with iPS culture techniques preferred.
- Prior experience in primary cell culture, lung biology, and working with lung cells a strong plus.
- Excellent scientific written and oral skills.
- High standards of excellence and track record of generating data of high quality.
- Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a small dynamic team.
