The Manager, Finance US Programs will provide financial support for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs (USP), a division within the agency charged with implementing high quality programs and policy work focused on early childhood education, school age programs, and emergency preparedness. USP delivers programs to over 150 sub-grantees funded by numerous grants, contracts, and private contributions. The Manager is responsible for budget holder support, award management, sub-award management, budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, and expense allocation guidance. This person will serve as the financial point of contact for an assigned portfolio and will report to the Director, Finance and Operations, USPA.
Budget Holder Support (20%)
- Serve as a business partner for budget holder by providing strategic and sound financial guidance
- Provide training and technical assistance for strong budget management
- Support planning and budgeting process
- Maintain an Excel based budget forecasting tool for division reporting
- Participate in leadership meetings and provide financial guidance
Financial Reporting and Analysis (30%)
- Provide monthly financial reports including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual reporting, grant spending reports, spending projections, and trends
- Conduct monthly general ledger analysis for coding accuracy
- Prepare timesheet and expense allocation guidance, and ensure on-time completion and re-classes when needed
- Assist with event budget preparation and expense tracking
Award Management (25%)
- Prepare donor budget proposals
- Draft invoices and financial reports that ensure accuracy and compliance with donor requirements and internal organization policy
- Ensure Award Management System is maintained with accurate data and completed workflows
- Monitor grant spend to ensure fair cost allocation and expense projections
- Build award match plans and track progress through accurate coding
- Collaborate with SCUS Grants and Contracts to implement guidelines and policies
Sub-award Management (25%)
- Present annual finance training and compliance overview to sub-grantees
- Provide financial guidance to stakeholders
- Prepare comprehensive sub-award analysis, including spending trends
- Review partner financial reports and process payments
- Reconcile sub-award advance and expense accounts
- Maintain annual sub-award budget vs. actual report
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in area of expertise
- Professional level of specialized knowledge to manage complex tasks, programs or projects.
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability to apply creative ideas to data compilations
- A creative, self-starter who has the ability to support multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work with staff in various positions and to demonstrate the importance of upholding financials policies and procedures
- Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and team skills
- An in-depth understanding and problem-solving approach to financial management
