LAWS, Loudoun County's designated domestic violence and sexual assault center, is actively seeking a talented individual to perform in the role of Director of Youth and Children’s Services (YCS). The Director will implement programs and services to meet the specific needs of youth and children who have been exposed to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking; provide information and modeling of effective parenting skills; supply other support services to parents in crisis; and coordinate community efforts and advocate for children with CPS, schools and the court system.
Program and Services
- Supervise YCS Advocate, YCS Therapist, and Violence Prevention and Outreach Program Manager.
- Provide individual counseling for children, teens, and youth who have been exposed to violence.
- Develop personal safety plans with children and provide a safe environment to process their feelings.
- Acts as an advocate for children, who have been exposed to violence whenever a need exists.
- Provide information, referrals and case management to clients regarding service needs for their children.
- Plan and implement support groups for children; secure facilitators, materials, and supplies.
- Coordinate and participate as a facilitator for the STARS (Sexual abuse Treatment And Response Services) groups.
- Participate on the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) for the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center.
- Collaborate with community professionals to effectively provide treatment and referrals for children exposed to violence.
- Provide training on the effects of family violence and child abuse as requested.
- Provide program direction and supervision for Youth & Children’s Services staff, interns and contractors to ensure completion of grant goals and objectives.
- Provide on-call support for Shelter Services on a rotating basis.
Support Services for Parents
- Provide specific information regarding impact of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking on children.
- Provide opportunities for parents to discuss their concerns or issues concerning their children.
- Work cooperatively with Shelter staff to assist clients in Shelter with parenting issues.
Miscellaneous
- Participate in weekly case review and service coordination meetings with LAWS staff.
- Participate in collaborative community efforts to end child abuse and family violence.
- Obtain weekly clinical supervision and 20 hours of training annually.
- Participate in bi-weekly clinical group supervision at LAWS.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate level interns as needed.
- Process and enter VAdata information daily.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all reports as required.
- Compile data and prepare grant reports.
Successful candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, posses experience in counseling, early childhood, or special education, and currently be working under supervision for professional licensure. Candidates holding professional licenses are preferred. Employment is contingent upon a clear criminal, sex offender registry, motor vehicle, and child protective services background check.
Salary from: $60,000 to $70,000
