The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) International Alumni Manager is responsible for assisting the WWP Alumni program’s efforts to provide support, networking opportunities, and education to new and existing warriors and their families in Germany, at military treatment facilities (MTFs), at military installations, and in local communities. The International Alumni Manager acts as a liaison between WWP and medical support personnel and military commands, as well as with partner and third-party organizations. The International Alumni Manager provides WWP local oversight over WWP international operations, logistical support, and mission integration.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Connect, serve, and empower the alumni, family support members and teammate(s) in Germany and other foreign countries
  • Manage, develop, and mentor the Germany Alumni team
  • Manage departmental budget for assigned area
  • Provide local, on-the-ground supervision of WWP Germany operations, logistics, and program integration.
  • Act as the local WWP point of contact for military commands in Germany, and other foreign locations as may be necessary
  • Manage and build partnerships with medical support personnel at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), European Regional Medical Command (ERMC), and other foreign locations as may be necessary
  • Assist Regional Director with developing long- and short-term plans for WWP outreach engagement programming and military command resiliency events and support consistent with the WWP mission
  • Manage the American Red Cross (ARC) relationship in Germany and coordinate in partnership with ARC personnel in Germany to provide programming and support for alumni, family support members, and military medical personnel and commands as set forth in the WWP-ARC Grant Agreement
  • Register eligible wounded warriors medically evacuated through LRMC with WWP and assist WWP teammate(s) in the distribution of comfort items to those warriors
  • Work directly with the wounded and their family members to assist with the recovery and transition process.
  • Actively plan, coordinate, recruit and execute opportunities for networking, camaraderie building, and family bonding for WWP Alumni and their family members
  • Locate warriors and family members in Germany that have not yet had contact with WWP and introduce WWP’s programs and service, and grow the Alumni international database
  • Regularly communicate, network, mentor, and outreach to WWP Alumni and their family members in Germany as a designated WWP representative, and refer them to appropriate WWP programs staff, and other organizations as resources
  • Support WWP by acting as a representative at events and speak on behalf of WWP
  • Post timely updates to all WWP electronic tracking systems, specifically the warrior database (Salesforce)
  • Provide support for and coordinate with WWP teammates operating in other overseas locations
  • Assist Regional Director and WWP teammate(s) in overseeing logistics and inventory of comfort items and Transitional Care Packs
  • Other related duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required; four (4) years military related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Skills/Experience:

  • High-level knowledge of military rank systems and organizational structure of each of the Armed Services.
  • Familiarity with veteran and/or military benefits
  • Proven ability to speak in public and serve as representation for the organization
  • Able to take initiative, multi-task, work well under pressure, and complete required assignments in a timely fashion
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment

  • Two (2) years’ experience in relationship-building with military organizations, veteran’s associations, and other targeted constituents required
  • Two (2) years’ experience using Microsoft Office products required
  • Two (2) years’ staff management experience preferred
  • Two (2) years’ experience with military treatment facilities / VA facilities and/or military medical separation/retirement process preferred.
  • One (1) year event planning experience preferred
  • Experience using social networking as related to veteran engagement preferred

Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Requires SOFA Status
