The External Engagement Senior Specialist will establish and strengthen partnerships with socio-cultural institutions, civil society organisations and formal and informal sector stakeholders. S/he will work for enabling greater partnership for the realisation of child rights in Nepal. This role drives WVIN’s goal of achieving positive social change, create peace and harmony, leading to a more just and equitable society for Nepali children that is consistent with our Vision, Core Values and Policies.

This position creates opportunities for open and dynamic dialogue leading to greater mutual understanding among entities with different traditions and cultures as well as taking actions to support stronger outcomes for the rights of children in Nepal.

This role will also consider to build capacity of WVIN staff and partner NGOs to engage with multiple stakeholders at different level.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support of strategic leadership provided to articulate how WVorld International Nepal (WVIN) works with external stakeholder
  • Support given to WVIN’s strategy formation and revision processes, with a view to bringing an increased focus on external engagement with socio-cultural groups, in line with current research and best practices.
  • Mapping of socio-cultural institutions, civil society organisations, and formal and informal sector stakeholders conducted, and strategic plan for engagement developed.
  • Key leaders of socio-cultural institutions, civil society organisations, and formal and informal sector stakeholders and government entities are mobilized to dialogue with one another, advocate for and take action on issues relating to the holistic wellbeing of children.
  • Networks built among socio-cultural institutions, civil society organisations, and formal and informal sector stakeholders, to increase joint action on issues within the community relating to child wellbeing.
  • Active participation in relevant local and national events, to increase and maintain WVIN’s visibility.
  • Capacity building provided for WVIN staff and partner NGOs to engage with socio-cultural institutions, civil society organisations, and formal and informal sector stakeholders entities resulting in deeper engagement between the stakeholders
  • Liaise with other WV Regional and National Offices, for the purpose of learning and sharing best practices.
Educational Background: 
A Master’s degree in any discipline with 7 years of experience working with/in development or humanitarian programs and organizations
Skills/Experience: 
  • Understanding and agreement with WV’s philosophy, foundation and approach for engaging with different Master’s degree in any discipline with 7 years of experience working with/in development or humanitarian programs and organisations and traditions.
  • Ability to mobilize local leaders and communities to address child-wellbeing issues
  • Understanding of the socio-cultural and religious diversity within Nepal
  • Strong networking, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven negotiating and influencing skills to build consensus
  • Ability and sensible judgement to interpret information and to present information with influence and impact
  • Matured personality and open minded to embrace diversity of views in promoting external partnership for the well-being of children
  • Proven ability to engage and mobilize communities for positive social outcomes

  • Experience working with/in development or humanitarian programs
