Grant Writer/Development Associate

This job is no longer available

Lafayette, CO, USA
Full-time

The YMCA of Boulder Valley is seeking a troubadour. Someone to sing the Y’s praises and to wax poetic about its splendor, humanitarianism and efficacy.

But alas, the YMCA of Boulder Valley’s full-time Grant Writer/Development Associate is more multifaceted than simply being a word nerd with a thesaurus. This position is responsible for helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to support, strengthen and serve our neighbors in needs.

To fill this position, we need an organized, resourceful, detail-oriented professional with a poet’s heart and a troubadour’s style. Will you sing the Y’s praises? You might be the right candidate if…

You are an experienced, passionate, prolific grant writer. Yes, this position requires serious grant-writing chops. If hired, you will be responsible for every aspect of the grant development and proposal process — from research, preparation and submission to reporting and tracking. You will manage the schedule of grant applications and assure timely submission. You will also be responsible for careful and detailed post-award management. You will work with program staff and the finance department to track and gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs. You will ensure staff are complying with grant requirements, develop and maintain a tracking database and organize grant files and paperwork. And like any upstanding person, you will send thank you notes.

You are thorough and committed. You will dive into the Y world with everything you’ve got. You will need to learn about our long history (more than 140 years in the Boulder Valley), our incredible programs (so incredible) and the projects you will prioritize. You will not simply drink the Y Kool-Aid, you will live the Y cause.

You are a communicator. Not just with the words in your grants. You communicate with co-workers, superiors, grantors and volunteers with respect, clarity and professionalism.

You get joy from asking for money, requesting silent auction donations, helping with events and raising heaps of cash to support local kids, families and seniors. Beyond grants, this position supports the Y’s greater fundraising goals, including the Community Support Campaign, Y Splash Gala and Colorado Gives Day. You understand that appreciation is an essential part of the giving cycle, and you enjoy looking for creative ways to thank and honor donors and volunteers.

You know that with every grant, every event, every donation, you are giving children opportunities to jump the achievement gap, families access to affordable childcare and seniors life-transforming wellness programs. You work hard because you know the impact will be far reaching and long lasting. You know you are part of something big, and you love it.

This position is full-time hourly with benefits: medical, dental, vision insurance options, paid vacation, sick and holiday time, free YMCA family membership, 50% reduced rates on YMCA of Boulder programs, and much more!We were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association in 1844.
