Help make a difference in our community as our Director of Development at The La Crosse Area Family YMCA in beautiful La Crosse, WI.
We are seeking an experienced, successful, and passionate team player to serve as our association’s Director of Development, providing leadership in the areas of our annual campaign, special events, donor cultivation, and endowment development. Our annual campaign provides the life-line to those individuals and families in need of a helping hand. With a current annual campaign goal of $900,000, our organization is seeking to increase this amount annually in order to meet the future needs of our community and change thousands of lives. The Director of Development is responsible for providing the overall leadership for our Annual Campaign including recruiting, and coaching of volunteers and staff, planning, training, and all aspects of the campaign. This person will also give leadership and direction to association special events such as the Annual Meeting, Community Inspiration Event, and more. The Director of Development will also be a partner in the delivery of services by providing support to the organization’s capital development and fundraising efforts, as well as grant-writing, all the while embracing the La Crosse Area Family YMCA’s cause driven culture and continuous growth.
This is a full time exempt position reporting directly to the CEO while working closely with the senior level staff (executive cabinet) and board members and trustees; working 40+ hours per week. Includes a full benefits package including a family YMCA membership and 12% retirement after 2 years of service.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, non-profit management, business or a related field; experience in a non-profit organization; proven success in working with an annual fundraising campaign; experience working with committees, board of directors, volunteers, and community partners; ability to establish relationships with various funders, partner agencies, and corporations to develop effective, long-lasting collaborations; experience in leading special events; experience researching grant opportunities and effectively writing and applying for grants; ability to work well with people from different backgrounds; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong human relations and leadership skills; strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self-starter and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
