The Technical Advisor (PS& SM) will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination with the private/social marketing Family Planning market players in the country and will be directly in charge of advocating for availability and acceptance of FP products in the country. S/he will have to work in close coordination with the government as well as the community to facilitate accessibility and availability of different FP products that large numbers of women choose to use. S/he will provide leadership, expert advice, technical support, and quality assurance to the project team to accelerate and sustain program objectives through private sector and social marketing approach, self-reliance and sustainability.
- Leverage the private sector and social marketing network in the country and support in building partnerships with the public sector/government as well as the other stakeholders in increasing access to FP services and products in the community.
- Establishes and/or strengthens existing relationships with key FP manufacturers/distributors
- Provides strategic inputs to the project team to look at a sustainable market model to the key project outputs - increased access, choice and quality of FP
- In close collaboration with the COP and technical leads, develops and updates annual work plan for specific social marketing/commercial-side interventions, monitors compliance and provides support and guidance to ensure objectives are met and deliverables are submitted to a high-quality standard, and disseminated to relevant team members and partners
- Provides direct technical inputs to the program as required and plays a key role in the development of programmatic functions, e.g. development of work plans, M&E plans and budgets as it relates to the commercial sector.
- Coordinate with FHI 360/Nepal Country Office to ensure that program and reporting activities follow organizational standards.
- At least 7 years of experience in a senior commercial and/or social marketing, sales or private sector markets role, preferably in Nepal or in South Asia region. Experience in pharmaceutical or family planning industry would be a plus.
- Technical expertise and deep understanding of Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing, Health Market Dynamics, Health Systems and Procurements, especially in relation to government.
- Approaches and program on social marketing, private sector engagement; public health, especially family planning, reproductive health and maternal health
- Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders, including the private and commercial players, project partners, donors, private sector, NGOs, and government departments.
- Familiarity with market research, especially in rural marketing. Working with community networks will be an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of local language will be an advantage
