Multimedia Producer, Special Projects

                                                        

Kansas City PBS is seeking a Multimedia Producer, Special Projects. Reporting to the Director of Production, this position will support dedicated station initiatives, including four annual on-air funding drives, regular civic affairs broadcasts (Week in Review and Flatland in Focus), and additional projects as assigned. Ideal candidates will have the capacity for creative storytelling and project management and the ability to work with a diversity of constituencies to complete a project on deadline.

 

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Produce quality video pieces for use via broadcast, online and social media, with the goal of promoting the local value of Kansas City PBS and moving audiences to financially support the mission.
  • Provide Production Support for funding drives, through the creation and editing of related promotional spots, serving on-site for live nights, shooting and editing pre-taped and off-site breaks and coordinating the development, production and engineering teams ensuring adherence to production and promotion schedules.
  • Assist in various capacities for regular studio projects (Week in Review, Flatland)
  • Support the marketing, corporate support, membership and major giving teams with spot production as assigned.
  • Understand and enforce FCC Guidelines for broadcast.
  • Stay updated with latest media techniques, web trends and production technologies.
  • Ensure timely upload of assets to KCPBS Archive/Asset Management System
  • Complete post-production steps including editing, completing related paperwork (releases) and upload to approved distribution points.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

 

Educational Background: 
• Undergraduate degree in media studies, communications or marketing preferred. • 1-2 years of production experience is required. • Must be able to shoot, write and edit television packages. • Experience editing with Adobe Creative Cloud media production

• Experience editing with Adobe Creative Cloud media production tools – Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop
Skills/Experience: 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Professional demeanor, organized, demonstrated ability to collaborate.
  • Excellent visual storytelling skills, news judgment and high ethical standards
  • Experience conducting interviews and willingness to assist with broadcast productions.
  • Ability to formulate broadcast programming concepts and to plan, develop, and implement live and/or pre-recorded television programs.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively organize resources and establish priorities and adhere to deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of television graphic design methods and techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Driver’s license required.
