Under the supervision of WASH Training Manager, the incumbent is overall responsible to contribute for effectively planning, trainings, designing, enrichment of the already available training materials, implementation through making all the necessary preparation and arrangements, conducting the trainings as per the trainings’ standard norms, creating a positive learning environment, conveying objectives clearly, encouraging and motivating trainees.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The incumbent will support the WASH Training Manager in performing the following tasks:

  • Designs trainings based on the project requirements
  • Conducts training need assessment prior to designing any training
  • Prior to conducting the trainings, gets prepared, practices and works hard on how to deliver the sessions to deliver the trainings successfully
  • Conducts hygiene, sanitation, CLTS and other related trainings for the CLTS teams of subcontractors and grantees at national and provincial level.
  • Takes active part in revision and enrichment of training materials
  • Develops training schedules as per the training modules/contents
  • Assists the co-trainers in designing pre-tests and post-tests for the trainings to screen the trainees before and after the trainings
  • Develops or compiles the required training materials/ aids and ensures they are effectively used during the training sessions
  • Provides support to the provincial team in the follow up, Open Defecation Free (ODF) verification, certification, declaration ceremonies at the community level and whenever wherever was required
  • Participates in the development of the IEC materials
  • Leads and manages the follow up/supportive supervision visits in the project’s sites
  • Assists the WASH training manager in the capacity building of co-facilitators.
  • Shares and reports on new lessons learnt (from the field) with the team
  • Prepares reports of the trainings and follow up visits conducted
  • Participates in the debriefing sessions and delivers presentations to the subcontractors’ and grantees’ management staff to share the findings of the follow up visits with them for further improvement and decisions to be made
  • Assists WASH training manager in day to day tasks and activities
  • Participates in any forums where needed to represent IHSAN positively
  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor
Educational Background: 
Bachelor degree from a recognized university in any of the following: Environmental Science, Public Health or a related field associated with WASH and hygiene behavior change.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five-year work experience in WASH or in relevant field and in social development, training design, lesson planning, IEC material/teaching aids development/ training conduction and facilitation and monitoring and supervision
  • Fluency in Pashtu and Dari and preferably English Computer literate
  • Effective Communication & Representation Skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of people, organizations and cultures across all levels
  • A team player who can work collaboratively and under pressure
  • Willingness to travel to the project target provinces
