FHI 360 is working with Ustad Mobile, an open source mobile learning application that enable users to access and share content offline. The social enterprise is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and currently operates in Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Jordan. FHI is working with Ustad to develop a custom-designed Goldozi mobile application for Lead Entrepreneurs. This is a unique opportunity to inform the design and manage the rollout of the Goldozi mobile app.
The Mobile App Specialist’s responsibilities will include:
- collaborating across various teams, including the Chief of Party’s office, to align cross-functional goals including timelines, workflows, and product benchmarks
- developing and maintaining the product roadmap, time estimates, and priorities with the software engineering team with Ustad Mobile, Dubai.
- supporting the Goldozi team and local implementing partners with answers to any technical issues they may encounter with the app, and coordinating with the Ustad engineering team as required to solve problems
- managing data in the backend of the application to support the features of mobile application, in collaboration with Ustad Mobile
- conducting field visits to Goldozi targeted provinces to meet with lead entrepreneurs and local implementing partners to conduct digital prototype testing, in addition to leading the application rollout, monitoring ongoing activities, and conducting necessary follow-up
- developing and consolidating suggestions for improvement of the app, including feature lists, user stories, and key design materials into necessary product requirements
- preparing cross-cutting training materials and delivering training to lead entrepreneurs in coordination with the Goldozi technical team
- documenting project activities through regular reports as well as other deliverables pertaining to the mobile application
- performing other related duties incidental to the work described above
- At least six year’s relevant experience in project coordination and/or management.
- Experience working preferably with international donor-funded projects, USAID, UN agencies or other.
- Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps, time estimates, and priorities with software engineering teams; experience in managing mobile app deployment within Afghanistan is preferred.
- Familiar with developing and consolidating mobile app “user stories and pain points,” feature lists, and key design materials into product requirements.
- Experience in arranging and facilitating training, including mobile app user training.
- Strong interpersonal skills, considering gender sensitivities, social norms, and culture from the Afghan regional perspective.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Dari, Pashto, and English.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel to project implementation sites in Afghanistan.
