To enhance the coordination mechanism and enable the environment for nutrition by designing innovative approaches for advocacy and communication, programs and events as well as provide technical advice to the IHSAN program and M&E teams for further enhancement of the technical and managerial capacities to address this important issue through a systematic manner.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for communications, outreach and advocacy in the implementation of IHSAN activities through the development of reports and management of outreach and advocacy activities, including ensuring the quality of all project reports and deliverables to USAID, the Ministries of Public Health, Rural Rehabilitation and Development, and Agricultural Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), and other entities.
  • Oversees and leads in regular report writing and editing duties associated with project contract deliverables as well as writing and editing technical reports, new letters, fact sheets, and success stories.
  • Works with the technical staff to define strategic use of communication means such as text messaging, use of tablets, radio broadcast, video footage etc. including developing storyboards, narrations.
  • Manages the implementation of all IHSAN outreach and advocacy activities.
  • Coordinates an outreach strategy with all IHSAN components to target key audiences in provinces throughout Afghanistan
  • Coordinates, arranges, and attends relevant meetings and events.
  • Develops the IHSAN communication & advocacy strategies.
  • Writes, coordinates and communicates action items, reports, correspondence and associated documentation with all IPs and stakeholders, including MoPH, MRRD, MAIL and other government authorities.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for appropriate communication with various coordinating body members by coordinating timely communications to ensure that the members are updated on activities.
  • Collaborates with coordinating body members to set strategic direction and ensure programs and/or activities are planned and implemented according to the members’ roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitates the work of the members in the coordinating bodies particularly when there is a need to report or to seek approval of recommendations from the group.
  • Enables early identification of problems or concerns raised in these coordinating bodies and supports effective discussion/action to resolve issues raised.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor in relevant field
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 5 years working in health development or public sector with non-government organization (NGO)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dari; Pashto fluency is highly desired.
  • Experience liaising with community and organizational leaders, donors, government officials, and representatives from other organizations.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams with wide range of stakeholders.
  • Qualified female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.
