We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Market Impact Specialist (formerly, Physician Engagement Specialist) for the USAID Tuberculosis Private Sector Activity in Indonesia.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Strategic Engagement, the Market Impact Specialist will support activities under the USAID Tuberculosis Private Sector Activity in Indonesia to improve District-level Public-Private Mix for TB implementation by engaging private sector primary health care facilities (standalone GPs or Pratama Clinics) while working closely with the public sector (puskesmas, public hospitals, district and provincial health offices, the National TB Program, BPJS-K, etc.), and other private sector providers (private pharmacies, private laboratories, private hospitals, Utama Clinics), and stakeholders (professional organizations, CSOs). The Market Impact Specialist will focus on developing and implementing strategies for market-based solutions for TB care and treatment in Indonesia. The position works in close collaboration with the strategic engagement team which focuses on laboratories, pharmacies, and primary and secondary health facilities in the private sector to improve participation and quality of TB care.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports strategic design and implementation of TBPS activities as a member of the ‘strategic engagement’ technical team, under guidance of the TB Private Sector Advisor and the Associate Director, Strategic Engagement
  • Works within the TBPS project consortium under FHI 360 supporting the National TB Program, local authorities and stakeholders, to draft and implement a plan engagement of private sector physicians/clinics
  • Conducts assessments with policy makers, public and private providers to explore issues of private sector engagement, including exploration of barriers and enablers for private provider engagement with DPPM
  • Develops training modules, in collaboration with the National TB Program, PDPI, IDI and academia, to develop for GPs to increase capacity in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and notifying TB cases
  • Develops and pilot models of private primary health care provider engagement for TB under DPPM
  • Assists with data collection & analysis, monitoring and evaluation of private provider engagement activities
  • Contributes to ongoing efforts on identifying and supporting local champions for DPPM, and works with the TPBS team to integrate project learning and sustainability plans for bringing interventions to scale
  • Provide technical support to implementing partners and organizations, as needed
  • Performs other duties, as needed
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or related social or medical sciences with focus on private healthcare markets
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in program design, strategy development, market-based healthcare solutions
  • Leadership/management roles in private or public-sector enterprises, particularly in the health sector
  • Experience in conceiving, planning and executing complex programs with government engagement
  • Fluency in written and spoken Bahasa and high proficiency in English
  • Authorization to work in Indonesia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree, PharmD, or similar
  • Indonesian national
  • Experience in healthcare public-private mix in developing countries, specifically in Indonesia, including a working knowledge of PPM and social enterprise models in care delivery
  • Strong analytical skills, insight, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
