The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Soldier Ride Regional Director leads and manages the Soldier Ride team across the United States, providing adaptive and able-bodied cycling opportunities for warriors nationally. The Soldier Ride Regional Director raises public awareness of the issues facing warriors, inspires support for WWP programs and services, and develops connections with warriors to increase participation in WWP programs, especially Soldier Ride.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead and manage the Soldier Ride program nationally in support of Soldier Ride goals.
  • Identify and implement methods to develop connections between warriors and WWP, to develop connections between individual warriors, and to increase participation in WWP events and activities.
  • Manage Soldier Ride events, activities, and teams. Develop action plans and retention plans.
  • Supervise staff and facilitate teamwork in support of program initiatives.
  • Travel to regional Soldier Ride events and work with staff to ensure successful event execution.
  • Work with team managers and coordinate various outreach and connection efforts.
  • Mobilize others to fulfill the vision of the organization with passion and optimism.
  • Monitor warrior attendance at Soldier Ride events. Interact with warriors at events to share experiences.
  • Collaborate with other WWP departments to raise public awareness of the issues warriors face.
  • Collaborate with other WWP departments to ensure Soldier Ride issues are successfully communicated and coordinated, and any issues identified and resolved.
  • Identify new programs and equipment available and make recommendations to WWP leadership.
  • Generate creative solutions and innovative programming with a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Identify new programs and resources and programs enhancement or modification and recommend to WWP management.
  • Coordinate with managers to develop and manage budget. Provide quarterly updates and forecasts.
  • Provide budget and resources for event activities to ensure warrior participation and events’ success.
  • Manage tracking and reporting in Salesforce system of key performance indicators (KPIs) for regional staff.
  • Analyze department projects and activities; produce periodic reports on progress towards goals
  • Assess program delivery strategies continuously with the open mindedness and innovation to institute change for bettering outcomes.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of education and applicable military experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Demonstrated program management abilities including identifying and implementing program management process improvements.
  • Demonstrated abilities in budget planning, reconciliation, and implementation of cost-saving strategies. Demonstrated understanding of budget management and fiduciary oversight principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise remote subordinates, including ability to lead, motivate, mentor, coach, and educate staff members.
  • Effective team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple priorities while maintaining a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Five years of staff management experience.
  • Five years of experience in working with military treatment facilities, veteran’s associations, or developing and building corporate relationships and community partnerships.
  • Three years of experience managing operating budgets.
  • Must be able to travel between 25% - 50% of the time including overnight and weekend travel

Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Four years of experience planning events or community activities
  • Three years of experience with Salesforce.
  • Group cycling experience.
