The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Merchandising and Buyer Specialist (MBS) supports website management and maintenance as it relates to the development, launch, and day to day e-commerce business operations to optimize positive customer experience. This position is responsible for supporting the efforts of product merchandising, sales, marketing and inventory management on the WWP e-commerce store. The MBS will collaborate with internal WWP teams and the fulfillment vendor, to approve items, and negotiate pricing, quantities and delivery schedules.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan and develop e-commerce merchandising strategies that balance customer’s expectations and WWP’s financial goals and objectives
- Manage and review merchandise presentation on the site to ensure categorization, imagery, color, copy, pricing and promotional tags are accurate and meet internal guidelines
- Ensure exclusive brand standards are observed and current logos and other brand assets are kept updated
- Evaluate and test potential new items vendor has proposed adding to the site
- Perform cost and pricing analysis and negotiate item pricing
- Monitor and approve inventory reorder points and safety stock levels
- Analyze vendor sales reports, monitor customer feedback and other related data to identify opportunities to improve stock turn and manage corporate risk
- Act as liaison between internal teams (including Marketing, Fundraising, Legal, Procurement) and vendor
- Ensure sourcing decisions are optimal in terms of price and quality
- Remain up to date with industry’s best practices
- Specialize in the completion of complex assignments
- Participate in or lead staff and/or customer meetings as required
- Travel to fulfillment vendor and trade shows is expected
- Other related duties, as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required
Skills/Experience:
- Highly motivated, passionate, and creative team player

- Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and complete assignments accurately in a fast-paced environment

- Ability to provide high level of service to a diverse client/customer base

- Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently, and work well under pressure
Education & Experience Requirements
- Five (5) years or more experience in a retail or e-commerce store with extensive knowledge of purchasing and inventory processes is required
- Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience with e-commerce store preferred
- Experience with Great Plains accounting and inventory tracking software preferred
- Knowledge of passive royalty income and associated guidelines and restrictions preferred
Certifications & Licensure
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license and meet company’s MVR best practice guidelines.
