The Project Odyssey Training and Quality Assurance Specialist supports the Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) leadership and CSRP team with the development, training, and proper execution of all curriculums utilized throughout the Project Odyssey program which supports of warriors dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health conditions as a result of their military service. This non-clinical position monitors consistency in Project Odyssey facilitation and alignment within WWP’s Mental Health Continuum of Support.

Note: Wounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) is designed to provide ongoing support to wounded warriors dealing with invisible injuries through comprehensive assessment of warrior needs, planning, and implementation of resources to best address and support those warrior needs. The overall goal of the Combat Stress Recovery Program is to enhance the quality of a warrior’s resiliency and psychological well-being. Project Odyssey® is 12-week mental health program that begins with an outdoor experiential learning event and continues with 12 weeks of follow-up allowing warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead the framework development for all curriculum utilized on Project Odyssey to maximize the impact on strategic measurement scales.
  • Facilitate training and provide follow-up support to Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) teams delivering Project Odyssey on established curricula.
  • Attend Project Odyssey to ensure quality and consistent content delivery. Provide feedback and follow-up support as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with CSRP teammates to ensure a smooth flow of training, reinforcement of concepts, and minimal duplication of instruction.
  • Identify appropriate instructional methods, e.g. lectures, demonstrations, conferences, workshops, individual training, or group training for CSRP teammates.
  • Establish course objectives, program presentations, and participant manuals for all Project Odysseys.
  • Create and maintain library of training documentation and guides.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for management and teammates seeking assistance in common practices pertaining to Project Odyssey, and mental health deliverables in the Mind area of focus.
  • Develop learning solutions while consulting with managers and identify training goals and education outcomes that support the improvement and development of teammate performance on Project Odyssey.
  • Collaborate across all programs to increase alumni awareness of Project Odyssey, WWP Talk, Warrior Care Network, and other internal and external mental health resources.
  • Serve as an internal facilitator for education initiatives, e.g., SafeTALK, ASIST, Project Adventure, and other initiatives as developed.
  • Conduct internal and external program briefs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, health services administration, or mental health-related field.

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five years of experience working with veteran-focused mental health programming or case management and assisting military and veteran populations in support of their mental health well-being and readjustment.
  • Three years of experience delivering or facilitating training for adult learners.

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, or related mental healthcare field.
  • Five years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and combat stress.
  • Four years of experience delivering Project Odyssey to both individuals and couples.
  • Three years of experience designing curriculum-based training for adult learners.
  • Three years of experience delivering mental health training to adult learners.
  • Two years of experience with Salesforce.
