The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Major Gifts Manager manages the WWP Major Gifts team and oversees and stewards the relationships with existing and prospective major donors and foundations, cultivating these valued relationships through ongoing personal contact, in-person meetings, and events, and generating revenue from cash, gifts of stock, and deferred gifts.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage a team of WWP Major Gifts staff members, mentoring them, developing their skills and abilities, and assisting them to steward relationships with existing major donors and foundations.
- Oversee relationships with major donors and foundations through ongoing personal contact, with an emphasis on in-person meetings and participation in events.
- Develop and implement strategies for the major gift and foundations team.
- Share in team’s goal for major gifts and foundations revenue generation, e.g., through cash, gifts of stock, deferred gifts. Achieve established revenue goals for major gifts and foundations.
- Utilize wealth screening information, research, and networks of existing donors. Identify prospective major donors and cultivate relationships.
- Travel to meet with existing and prospective donors in support of program objectives.
- Develop highly personalized donor communications, e.g., proposals, stewardship reports, and grant opportunities.
- Communicate program updates and ensure teammates have the most current documents and materials.
- Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with WWP teammates across the organization. Work cross channels to garner new donors.
- Utilize moves management strategies for prospects. Monitor team performance. Collect relevant data, and report results and performance metrics.
- Evaluate the Major Gifts program to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Promote a supportive working environment where employees are encouraged to proactively address issues and solve problems.
- Ensure effective workload planning and work schedules.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Five years of fundraising or sales experience.
- Five years of experience developing and building relationships and partnerships.
- Three years of staff management experience.
Preferences
- Five years of fundraising experience.
- Five years of public speaking experience.
- Two years of experience leading remote, geographically dispersed teams.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid state-issued driver’s license required.
