The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) Regional Director oversees the overall programmatic growth and development of the CSRP for designated regional offices, and leads and manages the Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) team.

Note: The Combat Stress Recovery Program provides support to wounded service members dealing with invisible injuries, e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and combat stress and offers inclusion in mental health programs including Project Odyssey, the outdoor experiential learning program that encourages wounded warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment and enhance their resiliency and psychological well-being.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide high-level management and guidance for the CSR program, which includes Project Odyssey and Continued Care.
  • Provide programmatic oversight for quality assurance and improvement of programmatic goals and initiatives.
  • Develop strategic plans and goals to improve the mental health resource networks available to the Combat Stress Recovery Program.
  • Collaborate with WWP’s leadership to impact overall CSRP growth and development and lead mental health and wellness teammates to guide wounded warriors’ recruitment and selection for participation in Project Odyssey.
  • Manage Combat Stress Recovery Program team members, mentoring them, and developing their skills and abilities. Encourage managers to develop subordinates. Manage team and individual performance to achieve CSRP goals. Promote a supportive working environment where employees are encouraged to proactively address issues and solve problems.
  • Enhance a collaborative relationship with external resources to maximize warriors’ abilities to make informed decisions as well as promote the expansion and growth of the CSR program.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement for the Combat Stress Recovery Program. Participate in process improvement activities and on project teams as appropriate.
  • Promote effective and efficient utilization of external clinical resources. Manage budget for regional team.
  • Mobilize resources to support the achievement of warrior goals within a desired timeframes.
  • Maintain appropriate records and track program development. Analyze results and provide feedback to leadership on programmatic initiatives.
  • Address concerns reported by teammates and warriors by investigating and reporting adverse occurrences.
  • Effectively communicate the WWP mission, vision, and values, and the importance of WWP programs in public forums, events, and campaigns.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, health services administration, or other mental health-related fields.

  • Demonstrated understanding of military and veteran issues, and the emotional impact of combat, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and combat stress. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by warriors affected by trauma.
  • Demonstrated understanding of psychological and mental health issues.
  • Ability to travel in support of WWP programs and services outreach.
  • Ability to engage in highly physical outdoor activities and events, e.g., high and low ropes courses, water sports, hiking, climbing, and horseback riding.
  • High energy level. Self-starter; willing to take initiative.

Work Environment / Phsyical Demands

  • Requires lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five years of experience working with veteran-focused mental health programming or case management and assisting military and veteran populations in support of their mental health well-being and readjustment.
  • Five years of staff management experience.
  • Must be able to travel between 25% - 50% of the time including overnight and weekend travel

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, or related mental healthcare field.
  • Five years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and combat stress.
  • Two years of experience with Salesforce.
