Wounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) Collegiate Sports Specialist will be responsible for recruiting and facilitating the attendance of WWP Alumni to collegiate sporting events as part of their reintegration process – offering opportunities to reconnect with family members, meet fellow warriors, and establish a sense of team and community. Through the development of improved strategic communications and processes, they will lead event management and planning in support of Alumni engagement. This position will also manage vendor relationships and coordinate directly with universities as appropriate. This position will possess an understanding of those we serve and the programs we provide and partner with their regional program teammates to create events and participate in the implementation on a national scale.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Receive and manage school participation requests; ensure alignment with program goals and objectives
  • Communicate regularly with Alumni Managers to gauge event interest and collaborate with regional Alumni teammates to facilitate attendance
  • Maintain detailed and thorough documentation of events in event management system and manage members accordingly
  • Create and update campaigns on a regular basis using Salesforce
  • Ensure that all events are marketed effectively and that consistent communication is maintained with potential attendees
  • Complete debriefs and administer feedback surveys to event attendees.
  • Work with the communications team to review all marketing and PR requests and coordinate appropriately – press releases, logo, flyers, daily review, etc.
  • Write event descriptions that will drive registration and attendance
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data/trends from event communications to improve targeting and participation
  • Create strategic plans for collegiate sporting event management and publicity with vendor and public awareness support
  • Provide general administrative, budget, and project support for National Alumni Director
  • Other related duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Communications, Sports Management/Marketing, Public Relations or related area; equivalent education, skills, and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree
Skills/Experience:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and Outlook; Internet navigation/research; database management; and customer relationship management software
  • Ability to travel as needed

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of business related experience and customer relations management (CRM) experience required
  • Prior experience within a collegiate sports program or university setting preferred
  • Vendor management experience preferred
