The Board of Directors (Board) of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area (Teton Habitat) is seeking an Executive Director with proven dynamic leadership, vision and passion to sustain and build on the high-quality service and community impact currently provided by the multi-faceted nonprofit organization. This position requires the ability to collaborate and provide direction to team members, to strengthen Teton Habitat’s impact in the community through strategic partnerships, and to implement Board and HFHI policies in decision making.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in big picture, collaborative leadership, effecting revenue through innovative programming and fundraising, with experience in the fiscal management and operation of a complex nonprofit organization.

Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Director (ED) has primary management and leadership responsibilities for all operations of Teton Habitat, including overseeing team members, planning, budgeting, resource management and development, daily operations, and implementing strategic initiatives of the organization.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead Teton Habitat in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board
  • Collaborate with the Board on governance, fiscal management and Board development
  • Work and interface with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) to ensure Teton Habitat complies with policies and procedures, maintains a “Good Standing” status and capitalizes on resources available to the affiliate. Act as primary spokesperson for the organization
  • Hire, retain and motivate qualified team members and provide guidance to department managers. Develop and implement internal policies and practices to cultivate and promote a strong and productive workplace.
  • Lead and provide direction to all operations of the affiliate, in collaboration with team members and committees:
  • Resource Development: Establish annual resource development goals necessary to support Teton Habitat’s mission. Oversee fundraising activities in collaboration with team members and committees. Build and sustain strong relationships with donors, volunteers and community partners.
  • Construction: Provide oversight of construction activities, ensuring completion within budget and scheduled timelines. Develop strong relationships to support opportunities for land acquisition and future projects.
  • Finance: Develop realistic financial strategies and goals to sustain the long-term viability of the organization. Provide accurate monthly financial reports. Prepare and submit to the Board an annual operating budget. Administer the approved budget and ensure accountability of record keeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Coordinate audit and tax filing activities.
  • Homeowner Services: Provide oversight of Homeowner Selection, pre-purchase and post-purchase activities, ensuring adherence to Teton Habitat policies and federal and state regulations with regard to fair housing and extensions of credit. Provide bi-monthly reports to the Board on compliance status for Teton Habitat’s portfolio of homes and mortgages.
  • ReStore: Support the promotion, growth and purpose of the ReStore. Establish appropriate accountability measures to achieve revenue targets.
  • Provide regular feedback to team members and provide timely performance reviews in order to establish goals and measure completion.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in management or a complementary field OR five+ years of managerial experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Leadership experience with direction from a Board of Directors.
  • Quantifiable fundraising success with a proven track record in donor stewardship or in business development of an organization.
  • Committed to the mission of Teton Habitat and the ability to ensure compliance with Board and HFHI policies.
  • Comfortable with delegating appropriate levels of responsibility and authority to team members.
  • Strong communication skills - capable of articulating Teton Habitat’s story in a compelling fashion to community and government groups, individual donors, and at Teton Habitat sponsored events.
  • Proven leadership - effectively manage, develop and sometimes train administrative team members, and oversee the ReStore and construction operations.
  • Financial experience - must be able to understand and generate P&L and cash flow statements and demonstrate proficiency in spreadsheet and PowerPoint software.
  • Construction, mortgage lending and fundraising experience is beneficial but not a primary requirement.
