We have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Executive Director in our Dallas office, reporting to the Executive Director. The Dallas market is the top fundraising market in the nation for the AHA, with responsibility for the largest Heart Walk and Heart Ball events in the country. This position works with the highest level executives in the Dallas area. Overall responsibilities will be to operationalize the vision, management of staff, and implementation of strategic priorities, and volunteer and employee engagement plans. The primary qualities and areas of strength we need from the individual in this role are:

  • Demonstrate experience in developing and selling large sponsorships and general fundraising prowess.
  • Direct experience with managing 10+ staff members, specifically fundraising staff.
  • Skill and experience in managing office operations in the areas of hiring, managing staff, employee relations, and staff compensation/recognition. Additionally, experience with managing financial aspects of running the local office and interfacing with AHA systems and reports to make decisions and allocate resources.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years proven and successful managerial experience in non-profit fundraising, staff management, and volunteer management in a similar organization.
  • Prepare and manage operating budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure corporate donations through participating in and leading top level sponsorship asks.
  • Strategic agility and adaptability are competencies needed for the position.
  • Strong knowledge of the Dallas area and surrounding area business, medical, and philanthropic communities or the ability to quickly become acclimated.
  • Proven ability to manage special event fundraising timelines and details to coach staff be successful, track and monitor progress to goals, w senior management informed of progress and areas for additional attention.
  • Collaborative approach to working with other internal partners.
  • Results driven with the ability to multi task, and must also be willing and able to travel frequently within the Dallas area.
  • Organization, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to lift at least 20lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
