Serves as a member of the Association Advancement team with primary responsibility for major gift development in support of ongoing program and operational needs, capital development needs and opportunities to increase endowment funds to underwrite the sustainability needs of each.   Provide support to YMCA Community Executives in the research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donor relationships to secure the resources needed to meet the strategic initiatives of the organization in service to the Greater Houston community.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Function as a key member of the YMCA of Greater Houston Association Advancement Team to elevate a donor-driven philanthropy model.
  • Support the department and volunteer leadership in preparation for the launch of a Comprehensive Campaign.
  • Conduct donor prospecting to grow the portfolio of high net worth donors and increase the base of support at the major gifts level.
  • Secure financial gifts from individuals, family and national foundations, corporations, and other philanthropic entities by developing and executing individualized donor plans including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Work with assigned Center Executives and District Executives to identify, cultivate and solicit 80-120 major gifts/donor relationships to include funding for initiatives, capital and special events.
  • Maintain entity, gift, and prospect management records, including accurate reports of all donor prospect meetings, in the donor management system
  • Clearly communicate the YMCA case for support to all current and prospective donors.
  • Collaborate with Foundations and Corporate Giving Director to ensure the Y presents a compelling need around our case to donors which results in obtaining grant funding.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with partner organizations to create joint funding requests where and when applicable.
  • Represent the association within community collaborations as required.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Seven or more years of professional experience with fund raising including annual campaigns, major gifts and capital.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to relate to top community leaders.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem–solve.
  • Demonstrated fund raising strategy development.
  • Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, time management and problem resolution skills.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00
