Summary

We have five vacancies for Program Caseworkers available in Houston, East and Central Coastal Texas.  The Program Caseworker is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Early Education Response and Recovery programming. The position will have extensive direct contact with partners (schools, Pre-K programs, child care programs, community organizations) and children.

The position will report to the Education Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the delivery of programming to help restore children and family’s access into regular early education programming, including child care.  

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

NEEDs AND DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS:

  • Under the direction of the Education Manager, conduct assessment of:
    • Education facilities serving our target age- range (pre-birth through third grade) including schools, pre-kindergarten programs, Head Start programs, childcare programs and out of-school time programs/summer camps.
    • Community Organizations

PROGRAM PLANNING, TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Under the direction of the Education Manager:
    • Contribute to the development of the childcare and school response and recovery plan,
    • Ensure the criteria for program support are upheld, assist in the identification of program locations and map the providers in affected area.
    • Provide ongoing capacity building to childcare providers and education partners
    • Support distribution of information and resources on early education and child care recovery in communities and to partners.

PARTNERSHIPS:

  • Research, Identify, and Build strong, trusted relationships with the education programs and partners.
  • Support paperwork collection and processing for partners sub grant agreements and pre-distribution registration.

DISTRIBUTIONS OF PROCURED ITEMS AND GIFTS IN KIND:

  • Under the leadership of the Education Manager, in close collaboration with the Logistics and Finance teams:
    • Manage Gift in Kind requests from communities and partners. Ensure that all policies and procedures for GIK and procured items are followed
    • Support development of Procurement Request Forms (PRF) in line with requests from communities and partners.
    • Support Distributions for child care/education programs

MONITORING, EVALUATION, ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEARNING:

  • Track and Report all data collected (assessments, partnership reports exc.) into a centralized database
  • Under the leadership of the Education Manager, support accurate daily tracking of outputs and beneficiaries
  • Participate and, when appropriate, lead in event planning and coordination.
  • Support beneficiaries to understand Save the Children’s Accountability mechanisms

CHILD SAFEGUARDING & INCIDENT TRACKING:

  • Uphold Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy as well as principles of do no harm and confidentiality. Report any concerns regarding child safeguarding, and the general safety and wellbeing of children, families and partners to the Education Manager, the Education Director, and the Deputy Team Leader Programs.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ relevant work experience
  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Knowledge and technical skills to deliver complex tasks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid experience of developing and managing partner relationships
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to represent Save the Children in communities
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish language fluency
  • You have 3+ years’ relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Child Care, Education, Communications, Marketing, Social Work)
