The Program Manager oversees the application and group coordination aspects of Helena Area Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership and repair programs. This includes 502 and 504 loan packaging, group coordination, Self Help (SH) family counseling and training, the applicant pipeline, and home dedication celebrations. The position is also responsible for Habitat’s financial education program. This position works closely with individuals and families, guiding applicants through Habitat’s application process, and assisting applicants in finding and applying for mortgages and repair loans, grants, and down payment assistance opportunities. The program manager works closely with owner/builders from application to home completion. They also assist the executive director in establishing relationships with communities and organizations across the state.

Educational Background: 
4-Year Degree in social services or related field (and/or the equivalent professional level experience in a related field)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent customer service skills (in person and via telephone / computer)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel & Word), plus computer operation tasks
  • Two years’ experience in a mortgage banking (loan processing and origination) position and/or 502 loan packaging
  • Experience working within a committee structure
  • Skill and ability communicating with a diverse range of ethnic and economic demographics
  • Is accurate, detail-oriented & organized
  • Has excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Prior experience with housing programs
  • Prior work with budget preparation and management
  • Knowledge of construction language

Preferred:

  • Prior non-profit experience
  • Experience working with federal grants
  • Working knowledge of mortgage origination and/or loan processing procedures
  • Special Work Requirements:
  • Public speaking
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Valid driver’s license required, clean driving record, ability to travel in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends on occasion

  • Two years’ experience in position with related duties
  • Case management experience
