The Hattiesburg, MS office of the American Heart Association has an opening for an Associate Director of Development .This position will focus primarily on administrative support and logistics for three events (Heart Ball & two Heart Walks) and leading the fundraising for one of those events (Jones County Heart Walk ).Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with AHA corporate partners, securing sponsorships, recruiting individual and team donors, database management, database management, financial tracking, assisting with creation of promotional materials and interacting with corporate sponsors for the execution of the events. Will be accountable for contributing to an overall team goal of $300,000, with $70k from the Jones County Heart Walk.
- Setting and meeting aggressive fundraising goals
- Developing comprehensive fundraising plans with executive level volunteers and implementing them to ensure the success of a company’s Heart Walk goal through best practice strategies.
- Securing/ Managing corporate sponsorships and individual giving.
- Maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors and donors
- Adherence to best practices and event timeline is required. Successful candidates will ideally have background in volunteer management, face to face sales or fundraising as well as exceptional networking skills.
- Expected to meet monthly fundraising goals and recruitment targets
- Supporting fundraising directors with day to day administrative tasks.
- Managing and tracking direct and indirect event expenses, with a responsibility to stay within the budget.
- Managing and updating internal database systems (Team Raiser) on a daily basis.
- Accountability and upkeep of sponsorship agreements.
- Meeting deadlines for the development and management of respective annual budgets.
- Volunteer recruitment and management (External Partners).
- Creating and/or coordinating AHA materials and packets.
- Planning of Heart Walk along with hired event company
- Tracking of event logistics (i.e.: securing venue, reviewing vendor contracts and proof of insurance, van/truck rentals).
- Managing post-event feedback.
- 1+ years of prior administrative and event planning and/or non-profit experience
- Ability to close face to face sales and sponsorships.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and drive for excellence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe)
- Ability to work independently and sometimes irregular hours
- Ability to lift 20-30 pounds
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the designated market on a frequent basis.
