The Technical Specialist, Knowledge Partnerships & Learning provides technical and coordination support for knowledge management and learning activities for the Alive & Thrive initiative in SEA region. The position is based in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Knowledge management:

  • Contribute to documentation, dissemination and reporting of A&T activities, experiences, results and human-interest stories for partner and donor updates, publications, social media and relevant communication channels.
  • Provide technical and coordination support to increase the uptake of advocacy, inter-personal communication, mass media, strategic use of data, and breastfeeding-friendly health system approaches, tools and materials.

Measurement, learning and evaluations:

  • Contribute to measurement, learning and evaluation activities, including design and execution of performance monitoring and accountability tools, project evaluations, and implementation research in collaboration with partners and contractors.  
  • Support the inclusion of recommended maternal, infant and young child nutrition indicators into national monitoring and accountability frameworks, including surveillance systems and Sustainable Development Goals reporting.
  • Support the design and measurement of new intervention models or adaptation of existing models with partners, including workplace lactation support, improved Little Sun counselling, and e-learning.

Representation and partnership engagement:

  • Represent A&T in relevant Government, and partner meetings, workshops, working groups and networks, such as the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Alliance (SUN CSA), Nutrition Technical Working Group.
  • Facilitate learning visits, knowledge exchange meetings, and donor monitoring trips.

  • Decisions made generally affect own job or specific functional area.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nutrition, Human Development, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Public Relations or related fields or commensurate experience. Higher degree is preferable.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of knowledge documentation, management and exchange.
  • Ability to influence, motivate, provide technical assistance, and collaborate with others.
  • Excellent and demonstrated public relations, interpersonal relations, public speaking, and diplomacy skills required.
  • Ability to take initiative and focus on results.
  • Ability to learn new skills and systems, with an entrepreneurial work ethic and gain respect among staff and stakeholders.
  • Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.
  • At least 5 years’ experience on infant and young child nutrition issues, particularly breastfeeding.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with local government sector is critical.
  • Excellent communication, and organization skills are required. Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent Vietnamese and English
  • Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
