The Technical Director for Basic Education will provide technical leadership to Objective 1 of the project, which will work to improve the enabling environment for the development of emergent literacy skills.In coordination with the Chief of Party, the Technical Director for Basic Education will be responsible for coordinating with targeted institutions of GOG, USAID, other USAID funded projects, other donor organizations, civil society and private sector stakeholders. The position ensures that program components are results-oriented, ensures high quality deliverables, and relevant and timely reporting, and supports the COP to develop and implement strategies.
- Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in education, social sciences or related field. A specialty in early grade reading, curriculum development, and/or reading instruction preferred.
- At least eight years of experience in technical support for programs in Latin America working to specifically improve learning in early grades.
- Demonstrated expertise in the design and delivery of early grade reading programs, reading materials, teacher training programs, classroom monitoring protocols, and tests and assessments.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in policy dialogue and education reform.
- Experience working in incorporating issues of equity including gender, ethnicity, and disability inclusion in education programs preferred.
- Ability to communicate (orally) in one of the Mayan languages, or experience working in a multicultural and multilingual context highly desired.
