- Oversees accounting, finance management and audit functions; mortgage servicing; risk management; and legal, including insurance, contracts, and grant compliance for the organization.
- Identifies the department’s needs, and the resources to meet those needs, on budget and on schedule.
- Is accountable for planning, monitoring and directing the department’s annual plan and budget administration in line with the strategic plan.
- Hires, supervises and evaluates department staff and foster professional development of staff and volunteers.
- Effectively manages and directs financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, budget, audit and public grant administration.
- Directs mortgage loan servicing program.
- Directs risk management insurance and liability issues for the protection of the organization and employees. Manages relationships with all insurance carriers and direct processes for renewals and compliance.
- Directs asset management function, including cash management, loan compliance, and reporting.
- Provides support for the Board Finance and Audit Committees.
- Ensures compliance with the Financial and Accounting Policies required of affiliates by HFHI and on the Quality Assurance Checklist.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required. CPA or MBA plus experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Needs at least seven to ten years professional experience working with non-profits or in accounting and finance.
- Requires computer literacy and working knowledge of office software applications and programs. Also computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet tools, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks Pro accounting software.
- Has knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting practices.
