Under the direction of the Development Director, the Annual Campaign Specialist is responsible for advancing the YMCA’s mission on a year-round basis directing the Association’s annual campaign and fundraising activities. This position is directly responsible for creating and completing strategies for annual campaign growth and stewardship, including cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing donors, members and volunteers; increasing major gift donors to the annual campaign; and working directly with branch leadership on annual campaign plans and implementation, as well as events supporting development and the annual campaign. The Annual Campaign Specialist works directly with the branch executives, branch boards, and development staff to ensure annual fundraising success.

Areas of Responsibility: 

STRATEGIC THINKING

  • Work in tandem with the Development Director to create and implement detailed strategies reflecting objectives for donor growth and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Branch Executive Directors and program staff to align fundraising, marketing, and event strategies, with program initiatives.  
  • Correspond with donors and prospective donors on a regular basis regarding program updates, telling the story of the Y to demonstrate the impact of community support, upcoming events, and notes of appreciation for their support. 
  • Ensure that all contributions are acknowledged accurately and timely and analyze the data to provide information needed to grow the campaign and increase fundraising effectiveness.  
  • Lead and manage all annual fund solicitation strategies and toward budgeted goals and provide necessary training for branch staff on implementing strategies.
  • Partner with branch executives to ensure events integrate the Y mission, provide case for support, and reflect targeted fundraising strategy. 

DONOR OUTREACH

  • Cultivate and solicit gifts for the annual campaign, including research, identification of potential donors, and developing and maintaining the relationship.
  • Develop and promote campaign case for support to campaigners, donors, board members, as well as staff members and the general community.
  • Assist in the branch and association events related to the annual campaign, including the community luncheon and golf outing.  

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

  • Facilitate effective campaign volunteer training that equips individuals to make campaign asks.
  • Assist in branch recruiting, training and motivating volunteers while providing recognition of their activities as they relate to the annual campaign.
  • Refine volunteer resources to reflect current needs of campaign.
  • Enhance and deepen the volunteer experience as measured by continued engagement and volunteer survey results.

DATA ANALYSIS

  • Create and generate fundraising reports as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate acknowledgment and recognition strategy of all annual fund gifts.
  • Compile and analyze data to provide information needed to grow the campaign and increase fundraising effectiveness. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year College or university required
Skills/Experience: 
  • A highly motivated individual who is able to work well on his/her own initiatives, as well as part of a team.
  • Three to five years of successful fund development experience.
  • A strong, collaborative, out-going, and energetic individual with seasoned fundraising skills is essential. Must have experience in the personal solicitation of annual gifts.
  • Individual must be able to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment, strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and influence volunteers and campaign leadership.
  • Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
  • Database management and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge or equivalent software packages is required.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles is essential. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
